“Live It Learn It takes you outside your neighborhood and exposes you to a brand new world...”
Time and time again, we see creativity shine when our students see themselves in their learning. From studying Kehinde Wiley's art at the National Portrait Gallery to exploring the differences in sculpture along the National Mall, our students discover their own talents in our lessons.
We live in an incredible city with amazing resources, and your support ensures that all students, regardless of income level or zip code, have access to these places. In order to reach our end-of-year goal of $150,000, we need many more of our friends and donors to step up and make a donation today. bit.ly/LILIEOY
"Are you saying that Martin Luther King, Jr. stood right here?! I can't believe I'm standing in the same spot! That is soooo cool." — 5th grader
Live It Learn It lessons are unique in that they go in-depth on topics that are relevant to our students and to their worlds. 🌎
We believe that students in DC’s Title I schools should have the opportunity to engage with history, art, and culture, so we are asking for YOUR support in making that possible. Will you join us in encouraging more voices to be heard?

“I’ve never had this experience before! Exploring new things is so great.” — 3rd grader
After a long school year of virtual learning, our students were more than ready to get out and experience their city first-hand. We have worked with over 800 students since the beginning of this school year, providing experiential learning through many avenues.
Would you consider making an end-of-year contribution for even more experiences to take place? We’d be so grateful!
We are so filled with gratitude for each and every person who donated on #GivingTuesday, as well as for all those who support our work in myriad ways. We fell short of our goal but raised $10,527 from 84 donors. Thank you!
You can still donate through Friday at midnight. http://bit.ly/GivTue21
We're still out here, folks! And we'd love for you to join us!
Did you know that 8 out of 10 students have never been to the places we take them?! And that 9 out of 10 say they'd love to visit again! We build bridges between DC students and their amazing city and YOU can play a part in making that possible for even more students.
Maybe you’ve been thinking about donating all day but haven’t quite gotten around to it. Maybe you’ve been on the fence about whether or not you should donate. Well, good news is that there's still time! Your gift will make a huge impact on students and teachers.

We've got ourselves a MATCH!!! An extremely generous supporter has offered a $1000 match, which means that if you donate now, your donation will be DOUBLED! That’s right, each and every dollar, up to $1000, will be matched.
So, please, before that afternoon stupor hits, make a donation! We thank you, and DC students thank you! https://www.givelocaltogether.org/liveitlearnit
And we're off!
Giving Tuesday starts NOW and we are so excited! It's a day of giving, generosity, and standing together. No matter when or how much you donate, you are making a difference for DC students and for our communities, as shown with the quote below.
"I learned that young people can do amazing things to help the world." -5th grader from Aiton Elementary School.
Let's make this realization possible for even more students, shall we?! Unleash your generosity here: https://www.givelocaltogether.org/liveitlearnit

As much as we enjoyed learning virtually with an amazing group of DC students and teachers, we are so happy to be back to school! Take a minute to watch this video and see what learning with LILI looks like ✨
And if you like what you see, consider a donation, big or small, one-time or monthly, to help us bring the joy of experiential learning to more DC students than ever this year. https://www.liveitlearnit.org/one-time

Live It Learn It 2016-2017
As we ramp up for the next school year, we’re looking back at some of our accomplishments from the 2016-2017 school year. Here’s to another year of increased student efficacy and achievement.
Our students love using organic and geometric shapes to sculpt their favorite animals at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. What animal do you think this student has made?
Check out this Hendley Elementary School student conducting a streak test to find out a mineral’s true color on the #LiveItLearnIt trip to the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History! 💎
Heave-ho! Tubman Elementary School works together to pull up some specimens from the Potomac to check the health of the river with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Check out how excited students from #BarnardES are to show off what they learned on their #LiveItLearnIt trip to the National Portrait Gallery during their post lesson review game 🙋🏽🙋🏾♂️
Shake it up! Check out this student shaking up his water sample on the #LiveItLearnIt trip to the Audubon Naturalist Society to get it ready for testing 💧
#tbt to #LiveItLearnIt's trip to the Anacostia Watershed Society. We're missing the warm summer weather. What do you miss most about summer?
Audubon Trip with JO Wilson Elementary
Yesterday spent a gorgeous day in Rock Creek with 5th graders from JO Wilson Elementary School and Audubon Naturalist Society. We tested the stream's health and examined some of the macroinvertebrates that live there.
Blue Whale Catfish
During our Zoo programs students observe and compare distinct characteristics about different species from the Amazon. What do you notice about this awesome catfish?
Students from Orr Elementary worked up an appetite at the Washington Youth Garden. They blended a smoothie with their leg power so they could enjoy a balanced snack that included most of the food groups. The smoothie contained peaches, apples, kale, and soy milk. Can you identify what food group(s) didn't make it into our snack?
Houston ES 5th graders became doctors for the day...but not the type you might think. Who was their patient? Rock Creek! Students donned boots and collected macro-invertebrates from the stream, which they observed under microscopes. Students also conducted various water quality tests and then used the data they collected to give the stream a health score. Any guesses how Rock Creek measured up!?
