GET OUT THE VOTE | VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE at the Wah Luck House (outside of ANC 2F, but part of ANC 2F outreach to seniors). Commissioners Fanning and Ferebee want to thank everyone for their efforts toward a successful VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE this afternoon. Commissioner Ferebee collected 22 Voter Registration Forms 🤣! This was a special event to share with elders from another culture. THEIR VOICES WILL BE HEARD!

1) Melissa Alexander | DC Board of Elections: Thank you for providing direction as well as the clipboards, pens, and Voter Registration Forms (Chinese & English).

2) Fan Zhang (and Mr. Chin): Wah Luck House | I appreciate all of your work to assist ANC 2F in pulling this together. It was great to see all of the residents.

3) Mayor's Office on Asian & Pacific Islander Affairs: We can't thank you enough, Vanessa and Tuo, for helping Commissioner Ferebee say "Hello Everyone" in your language, and translating and assisting the residents. ANC 2F appreciates being able to work with MOAPIA on this important project.

4) John Fanning: ANC 2F Chair | Thanks so much for your support and the snacks 😁.

5) Saul Boulanger: Ward 2 DC Dems Volunteer | Thanks so much for coming out | your presence was very much appreciated.

ANC 2F | GET OUT THE VOTE! Commissioner Janice Ferebee coordinated a series of drives to get senior residents registered at the 5 DCHA properties in Ward 2. Dropped off 53 VOTER REGISTRATION FORMS today at the DC Board of Elections from the drives at Claridge Towers (2F07) and Judiciary House (2C02). We will be at Horizon House (2F08) and The James Apartments (2F03) next week, and picking up from St. Mary’s Court later (2A05) in September. We have also added the Wah Luck House (2C01) in Chinatown and will be hosting a drive at the end of September, in partnership with the Mayor’s Office on Asian & Pacific Islander Affairs, with Mandarin and Cantonese translators. It’s been a privilege to serve these important senior populations | supporting them in exercising their right to vote. We want to thank the DC BOE, the MOAPIA, DCHA managers Ms. Gavin and Ms. Roundtree, and the Resident Council members and volunteers who gave of their time. PLAN YOUR VOTE!

Do these developments impact you? We'd love to hear from you and share the work of the ANC around these issues. Join us tomorrow at our Public Space and Transportation Committee meeting - follow us here and find more details on the event page!

ANC 2F Commissioners Out in the Community | Last week Commissioner Janice Ferebee 2F08 helped residents of Claridge Towers | ANC 2F07 (one of 4 DC Housing Authority buildings housing senior residents with disabilities) with their GET OUT THE VOTE activities (they were at it again this week and altogether snagged 25 new VOTER REGISTRATIONS). The other three buildings (The James Apartments, Horizon House, and Judiciary House) along Wah Luck House in Chinatown, and St. Mary's Court, are all on the list for GOTV activities being coordinated by Commissioner Ferebee.

Food distribution is continuing throughout ANC 2F | with Commissioners Janice Ferebee and John Fanning picking up food from Father McKenna Center on North Capitol Street, and dropping off at Mass Place and Claridge Towers. Pics of Claridge Towers Resident Council members Avis and Bonnie overseeing the food distribution to residents. Other great work is being done by Commissioner Madeleine Stirling 2F05 and Ward 2 Mutual Aid (pictures coming soon). Thanks to all of our ANC 2F Commissioners for serving the community during these challenging times. Have a safe and fun-filled holiday weekend.

ANC 2F mourns the passing of Bill Knight, Facilities Manager at National City Christian Church. Bill and the NCCC have been steadfast community partners to ANC 2F for countless years. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick and all those who loved Bill.

Bill's memorial service will be held at NCCC on Saturday, October 28. Visitation at 2pm and service at 3pm.

All of us at National City Christian Church are deeply saddened by the death of our member, friend, and colleague Bill Knight. We will all sorely miss Bill's leadership on the NCCC staff, but even more we will miss his friendship and his wonderful gentle spirit. We all have held Bill and his partner Nick Bullock in deep affection and esteem. Now we are keeping Nick and his entire family in our prayer. A memorial service will be held in October. We will post that date when plans are complete.

Hope to see folks at the next ANC 2F Public Space & Transportation Committee meeting this coming Wednesday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m., at Eaton Hotel (http://www.anc2f.org/).
Happy New Year! Looking forward to attending my first ANC 2F Monthly Public Meeting, as an official Commissioner 2F08 (Janice Ferebee), this evening at 7:00 p.m., at the Washington Plaza Hotel, at 10 Thomas Circle (that's me and Commissioner John Fanning, ANC 2F04 & Chair, at the Swearing-In Ceremony on January 2, 2019). Come on out to LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! Here's to a great year in ANC 2F!
Hello ANC2F! I read this article and congratulate you for your recent $25k bounty 'benefits' to exchange for not having to accomodate a single unit of affordable housing in a luxury building in your neighborhood, but instead have it moved to mine. I assume you'll be passing along those $25K in benefits to my neighborhood, where public amenities are severely lacking. The comparatively disadvantaged family that will have to live up in my neighborhood, further from the better schools, parks, transportation, and jobs offered in Shaw, will surely need it. Though we already have a far greater number of affordable units, we'll be happy to absorb those that Shaw just can't possibly see their way to accomodate. Because we're like that up here. I'm sure ANC 4D will be able to provide you with the bank account details for the transfer. Kindest regards! Myles Smith Kansas Ave NW
