Congratulations to all of our newest American Honors graduates!
Meet Hao, an international student from Vietnam who is studying Chemical Engineering.
“I choose American Honors because we a lot of honors classes which I really like and I have support from my AH advisor. And when I saw the name "American Honors" I just really liked it. It was like it was something special. If I wasn’t in AH I would be on my own and would feel less brave than I do right now.”
Students at Community College of Philadelphia shared their Big Dreams with faculty and peers at the 1st Annual Dream Big Dinner in Philadelphia. The event celebrates student’s drive toward making their big dreams come true.

Meet Minh, an international student originally from Vietnam whose big dream is to become a lawyer in order to help people.
"I feel like AH has helped me a lot. My advisors are so great. I love them so much. I just took the TOEFL on Saturday and Mary took me to the test center that was about an hour away from Jackson at 6 in the morning. She waited for me to finish and then took me to a restaurant to have a ‘real’ lunch! I felt really good about how I did on the test compared to when I took it in high school. I could definitely see my improvement."
Students from Union took a tour of the NYU campus on a trip to New York. Other highlights included New York style pizza and shopping at the NYU bookstore!
Meet Daniela, an American Honors student who was nominated to give a speech at the Mercer Dream Big Dinner a few weeks ago. Here’s an excerpt from her inspiring speech.
“Thanks to American Honors, I now realize the strength a person can have with the support of others. I would like to give a special thanks to my advisor who has given me guidance and the opportunity to recognize my big dream and send me on the path toward success.”
Meet Quan, an international student originally from Vietnam who graduated from the American Honors program last year and is now studying Telecommunications at University of Florida. This is what he has to say about his experience with our program.
"My advisor, Maria was a great advisor. She was very accessible when responding to students. I can’t deny that her advising has played an important role in my education. AH is beyond the 4-wall experience. You just don’t go to classes and study. It is whole universe beyond that. There is community service and extracurricular activities that you can get involved in. As result, you start picking up new skills. This is something that I really advise other students to do - get involved and really use their time wisely rather than waiting and expecting someone to lend a hand."
Students from Union County College, Mercer County Community College and Community College of Philadelphia attended a University of Pennsylvania Admissions session and toured the campus! One of the student ambassadors who gave the tour shared her study abroad experience where she traveled to Ghana with classmates. Various study abroad experiences are available for students at U of Penn who want to travel and enrich their academic global perspectives. Our students were also invited to Villanova University for an Admissions Information session regarding transfer. The visit included a tour of the rural campus as well. Our students were extremely excited about both campus visits!
