Prior to the development of aerial refueling, fighter aircraft had to be shipped overseas. These dangerous trips took weeks, and aircraft often needed maintenance upon arrival because of salt air exposure and corrosion. // Here's a photo of the USS Langley, the first aircraft carrier, transporting 34 aircraft in 1928.

The United States Air Force would not exist without our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math experts. Their innovation and expertise keep our Air Force the best in the world.
"If we can figure out ways in which we can be more energy efficient, weāre basically increasing lethality per gallon,ā said acting Assistant Secretary for Energy, Installations, and Environment Edwin Oshiba.
"What that translates to is more time on target if youāre talking about aircraft refueling or a fighter aircraft. It means more cargo per mile if youāre talking about moving cargo across the Indo-Pacific theater."
The Department of the Air Force is hoping to release an implementation plan for its Climate Action Plan by mid December.
āWe have an all-volunteer forceāand it continues only because generations of Americans see the honor, dignity, and patriotism of military service.
