“Since I was 13, I’ve had maybe two or three jobs. Right now, I feel like I have four jobs. I have the NASA job, the Navy job. I’m also the chair for the Hispanic Outreach and Leadership Alliance, and I’m a new dad. It’s a lot.

They say that the more you do, the more you can do. That’s a motto we have in the military. It’s true. The more you do, the more you can do, and unless you try to do something, you won’t know if you can."

"Success is in the journey of trying to work your way back to balanced.” — Magdiel Santana, Senior Program Analyst, NASA Headquarters

Since we are celebrating Earth Day's 50th anniversary this week...we want to highlight Sandra Cauffman! Sandra is the Acting Division Director for NASA's Earth Science. She provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and overall management for the entire agency’s Earth Science portfolio

And even though she is quite busy and shoulders a lot of responsibility, she is a proud Latina (born in Costa Rica), always representing and supporting her community. Thank you for being an active and supportive member of our Hispanic Outreach and Leadership Alliance - HOLA NASA familia, Sandra!

What is citizen science?
NASA’s citizen science projects are collaborations between scientists and interested members of the public. Through these collaborations, volunteers (known as citizen scientists) have helped make thousands of important scientific discoveries: from understanding our global environment through climate research, to tracking auroras and comets, to searching for new asteroids and planets.

Counting down to Solar Orbiter launch

A new spacecraft will soon journey to the Sun to snap the first pictures of its north and south poles. Join us and NASA en español on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. EST for a special Facebook Live event in Spanish on Solar Orbiter, a collaborative mission between ESA - European Space Agency and NASA. Scientists from NASA Goddard will be live from NASA's Kennedy Space Center to talk about how the mission will study the NASA Sun Science massive magnetic field, helping us better understand how bursts of solar wind can impact Earth communications and even astronauts voyaging into deep space.
