How would you like to help us celebrate Dutch-American Heritage Day this year? 🇺🇸-🇳🇱
It happens every November 16, the anniversary of the day in 1776 when the Netherlands first saluted an American warship, acknowledging the United States as an independent nation.

Since then, we've become steadfast allies and great friends. In fact, nowadays you can see Dutch influence through the US.
- Is there a Dutch windmill in your neighborhood?
- Do the tulips bloom every spring in your city center?
- Is there a street name in your area that makes you think of the Netherlands?

But we know there's more, and we'd love to see a picture of it all! You can help us find Dutch influence in the US through food, culture, history, music, and more.

Seattle goes Dutch with a new intersection. 🚲 Seattle opened this Dutch-style intersection, a road design endorsed by both city transportation and federal highway officials as a proven safety measure.

“We’ve done a good job in Seattle upgrading our bike infrastructure,” Padelford said. But there’s more work to be done, and Padelford thinks the intersection “could serve as a template for future intersection design.”

Ten years ago today, flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was brought down over eastern Ukraine, claiming 298 lives, including 196 Dutch nationals.

Our flag waves half-staff today in honor of the people who died, their loved ones, and for our colleagues for whom it remains as a painful and profound memory. The MH17 Aviation Disaster Foundation will hold a ceremony at the National MH17 Monument in Vijfhuizen.

We remain committed to establishing the truth of what happened, achieving justice for all 298 victims.

Last day of the !

📸 : 1 & 2- Island hopping in Little Caribbean, Brooklyn! King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima started their visit to New York City with a visit to the East Flatbush neighborhood, home to the largest Caribbean-American community in the US.

📸 : 3 & 4- After the walk, they visited Newlab, an incubator space for startups based in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard and met with attendees of a business event on startups, inclusive financing, and energy and clean tech.

📸 : 5 & 6- As part of the Future 400 initiative, a series of cultural and community events marking 400 years of Dutch-New York history, the Royal Couple visited the New-York Historical Society to view an installation entitled New York Before New York: The Castello Plan of New Amsterdam.

📸 : 7 & 8- Also, part of , the Royal Couple visited The Highline NYC, a major public park and exhibition space. It is built on the site of a historic elevated rail line, and showcases horticulture, local plants and sustainability. It was designed by the Dutch Piet Oudolf.

📸 : 9 & 10- : After a guided tour from Alan van Capelle, Executive Director of Friends of the High Line, they concluded the visit with a reception at The Spiral building in the Hudson Yards, attended by local politicians and representatives of US and Dutch businesses in NY.

For Day 3 of the Royal Couple's visit, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima went to New York. 👑🇳🇱✈️🗽

📸 : 1 & 2- The King and Queen began their visit to Albany with a reception by New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

📸 : 3 & 4- After lunch, the Royal Couple visited NY CREATES, a tech hub and one of the world’s key centers of semiconductor research and development and toured an ASML cleanroom. They also met with Dutch and US Semicon entrepreneurs.

📸 : 5 & 6- The Netherlands and the State of New York will work together on the latest generation of semiconductors. The partnership was signed by Governor Kathy Hochul and minister Liesje Schreinemacher during an economic forum in Albany.

📸 : 7 & 8- The 👑 Couple head to the Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site, a historic house from 1763, once the home of Dutch General Philip J. Schuyler & his wife Catharine van Rensselaer.

The King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima's working visit to the US: Day 2!
✈️ City of Savannah Government, Georgia.

📸 : 1 & 2- The Royal Couple arrived at Savannah City Hall to meet Mayor Van Johnson and talk with city officials and ministers about the relationship between Savannah and the Netherlands as well as opportunities for further cooperation.

📸 : 3 & 4- The King and Queen took a walk through the historic center of the City of Savannah. Along the way, they spoke with representatives of the SCAD - The University for Creative Careers about the challenges facing the city's old town and opportunities to breathe new life into the area.

📸 : 5, 6, 7 & 8- They visited the Savannah State University, the first public historically Black university in Georgia. They talked with students and Black entrepreneurs about enterprise and international ambitions in the university's Marine Science Center.

📸 : 9 & 10- Next, they visited the Port of Savannah, the fastest-growing and fourth-busiest container port in the US. After a tour, they attended the closing session of a business seminar on sustainable port development and connectivity.
