HAPPY BDAY, CHUCK ❤️🎶

On August 22, 2014, DC dedicated Chuck Brown Memorial Park in honor of the Godfather of Go-Go. One year later, the District launched the first annual Chuck Brown Day.

Twelve years later, we’re still celebrating the legacy of a man whose music helped shape the sound, spirit and culture of our city.

His legacy lives in the bands carrying the music forward, the generations dancing to it, and the people of DC who have made Go-Go their own.

Today, on August 22nd Chuck Brown’s birthday, we celebrate the movement in his honor.

50 years of Go-Go. 12 years of Chuck Brown Day. One city. One sound. One legacy.
