Mikva Challenge Summer Fellows visited Magistrate Judge Faruqui at the United States District Court to participate in a mock trial centered on student rights and network with civic partners in the law profession.

โ€œOne of the most memorable parts of this experience for me was getting to argue in front of a real judge. As a person interested in law it was a great experience to picture myself in a court roomโ€ - Owen, a Mikva Summer Fellow

Thank you to Judge Faruqui and Kristin at the District Court for making this annual experience happen for our young people!

The Office of the DC Attorney General launched the 2026 High School Advisory Council to provide youth-centered policy solutions to DCโ€™s largest juvenile justice and safety issues in collaboration with Mikva Challenge.

Each Wednesday, the students will engage in community building, public speaking, research and preparing for their final presentation where AG Brian Schwalb will hear the student recommendations and decide on which to implement in the future.

Shoutout to the Office of the DC Attorney General for continuing our summer partnership with the High School Advisory Council! DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb
