Cutter Lateral Reach 21 Water Treatment Plant and Associated Items, Navajo Gallup was the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s first water/wastewater design-build project, addressing the water shortage in Navajo and Jicarilla Apache nations. Design-builders collaborated directly with Reclamation and project stakeholders to jointly deliver a project that provides high-quality drinking water to impacted areas. Over 40% of households in these nations have to haul water to meet their needs, and this $1.5B project directly improves living conditions as well as the long-term viability of the region. 🚰

The Cogeneration Facility at the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility project marks RWF's first use of progressive design-build. The design-build team successfully achieved the project's key outcome— building a biogas-based engine that enables the City to meet its greenhouse gas goals. This new engine allows for 27 percent more capacity and the flexibility to use no natural gas; now the new and improved Cogeneration Facility can produce all the power necessary to meet the RWF's demands. 🌧

A LOOK BACK: Our Concourse D project won a Design-Build Institute of America 2021 Merit Award for aviation projects AND a National Award of Excellence! ✈️ Concourse D opened in July 2020 as our fourth major concourse with six domestic aircraft gates, a variety of customer amenities, public art and sustainable components. 🏆 Congratulations to HENSEL PHELPS, Fentress Architects, Corgan Inc. and MNAA on these wins! #BNAVision
What are you supposed to do when the event you're involved with switches from in-person to a free virtual event and a few of the registrants refused a refund? Keystone Contractors Association decided to match the unclaimed funds and try to make a positive impact during the Holidays at the Bethesda Mission. This week we delivered over $500 worth of food, totaling over 400 LBs to this men's shelter in Harrisburg. Thanks to the following for your support: Construction Owners Association of America, Design-Build Institute of America, CSI - Construction Specifications Institute, Construction Management Association of America.
BC is proud to announce Rod Pope has been made a Design-Build Institute of America Fellow! http://ow.ly/NS0K50H1hQE DBIA is a premier association of design and construction industry leaders who leverage design-build and integrated project delivery methods to successfully deliver high-performance projects. DC Southwest Library has won two prestigious awards from the Design-Build Institute of America - Best in Design/Engineering and Civic/Assembly Merit Award, along with partners Perkins&Will and Turner Construction Company. Representing the best in design-build, these awards are a tribute to the culture of #design and #construction collaboration between all members of the project team. Southwest Neighborhood Library provides a beautiful, natural, and functional #aesthetic space that elegantly addresses its unique site and connection to the adjacent park. Comprised of a mass timber structure, this innovative building involves such elements as a world-first timber #foldedplate roof in the likeness of an open book. Supporting the steel and timber lateral system were glulam beams and columns with detailed timber-to-steel connections. The Library achieved #LEED Platinum Status, implementing sustainable strategies such as regionally sourced material, solar panels on the green roof, and timber throughout. The true success of this project could only happen with engagement and community buy-in, along with the talents of the highly experienced teams that worked in tandem to complete it. Facing and overcoming the many design and construction challenges, the whole #designbuild team came together to make this project a true "Pavilion in the Park" for a rich community. Special thanks to the many project team members, including Carl Knutson, Lucas Epp, Pietro Vinco da Sesso, Nancy P. Gribeluk, Vincent Remer, Ben White, Hannah Clark, Bradley Schulz, Jaspreet Pahwa, Jean-Baptiste Bachmann, Jordan Bordignon, Dean Benne, Robb LaBranche, Joseph Buchbauer, Andy A., Jack Tsai, Joseph Epp, Rennie Hall, Paul Cheriex, Taku, Yoshi, Perry, and Nicholas. ⭐ Congrats to our Capital Improvement Program! ⭐ The CIP won a National Award of Merit from the Design-Build Institute of America for the $141 million Cogeneration Facility at the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility. The new Cogen uses biogas from the wastewater treatment process and natural gas to power the RWF, making operations more sustainable. Save the date and plan to attend the April 6-8, 2022 Design-Build for Transportation/Aviation Conference in Orlando, Florida, where business transformation meets industry imagination. #DBIATRANSPO #DesignBuild #DBIA Design-Build Institute of America
The Design-Build Institute of America just honored the Crosstown Parkway Extension with the National Award of Excellence in Transportation. The project blends functionality with sustainability and aesthetics while saving the city $12 million by using design-build to help reduce costs. The coastal city of Port St. Lucie, Florida has grown to become the seventh-largest in the state. This made having an additional evacuation route in the event of a hurricane crucial. The team put a lot of thought into a design that safely crosses an environmentally sensitive area while creating an attractive landmark. With its initial conception over 40 years ago, the community was thrilled to celebrate the highly anticipated completion of the bridge and waterfront with a grand opening bash. Congratulations to the design-build team! Learn more about the significance of this project:https://bit.ly/3GUuddt #wearersandh #DBIACON '21
We are thrilled to share that the Hans Rosling Center for Population Health was selected for four awards at the Design-Build Institute of America 2021 Design Build Conference, including #Projectoftheyear! We are so proud of our design-build team, including University of Washington, The Miller Hull Partnership, KPFF Consulting Engineers - Seattle, AEI Electrical, PAE Mechanical and many more. This nine-story, 300,000-square-foot nexus for interdisciplinary teaching and innovation was the UW's first and largest design-build project. Completed in the summer of 2020, the Hans Rosling Center was a groundbreaking project in all aspects. The project finished on time, with a shorter schedule than traditional projects. The design-build team added about $8.8 million of enhancements during design and construction and completed $6.5 million under budget — all of which would have been almost unheard of previously. Congratulations to the entire design-build team on this exciting win
