Francis Scott Key Elementary

Francis Scott Key Elementary Since 1928 Key School has taught children from Palisades and across Washington, D.C. The school is widely known for its academic excellence, diverse student body, dedicated and innovative teachers, and committed parents.
(2)

The renovated and expanded school currently enrolls approximately 340 students. Facilities include bright, spacious classrooms, a modern, fully automated library with more than 5,000 volumes that support the curriculum and student interests, state-of-the-art computer and science labs, a gymnasium, combined cafeteria and auditorium, and a "pro-green" artificial grass athletic field.

Mission: Key Elementary School strives to achieve four instructional goals for every student from pre-k to fifth grade: to help each child master critical learning skills; to encourage every student to discover his or her special abilities while respecting the accomplishments of others; to ensure a healthy physical environment that promotes each student's mental and physical development; and to provide the leadership, planning, and resources necessary to accomplish these goals.

Hi Neighbors and Fellow Key Families,
Since the pandemic started, I've started sewing custom-fit cotton face masks that fit everyone from ages 2 and up. They are two layers of 100% cotton and feature a filter pocket, removable flexible metal nose bridge piece, and an extra pair of super comfy lightweight elastic. Right now, I'm offering a deep discount on my limited remaining Halloween mask stock - all masks in these prints are $10 each. All I need is a quick, simple face measurement, and I am happy to deliver masks in the neighborhood by tomorrow (Friday 10/30).
If you're looking for a mask to go with a Halloween costume, I'm happy to do rush jobs on all other prints at the regular $15 price in time for Saturday if not sooner. My print stash ranges from Minecraft to My Little Pony, so don't be afraid to ask! Contact [email protected] for more details and to place an order. @linden2crafts

Let us make you dinner one night in the coming weeks! We’re a group of local cooks who are happy to make and deliver lasagna to families going through a rough time. It’s a free meal, made with love, no strings attached.

For a lot of us, the impacts of COVID-19 have affected our families in many ways. Whether that’s:
-financial (loss of job or hours, food insecurity, etc.),
-emotional (isolation, stress, mental health issues)
-loss of a family member, etc.
-physical (health impact, change of housing, etc.)
-working so much it’s hard to make a hot meal
-being a single parent trying to do it all
-having a new baby here and it’s a bit overwhelming
-Something else you’re struggling with and you just want to feed your family? Families are under a lot of strain right now! We’ve got you!

We would like to help with a meal to take some of the pressure off. One meal isn’t going to change the world, but it may change a day. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference.

We know it can be hard to raise your hand - we want to make it easy. 🙂 Sign up at www.lasagnalove.org/request if you could use a little extra love If your family needs a meal, or you know a family that does, it only takes a moment to request through our website.

ALL DELIVERIES ARE CONTACT FREE, delivered to your door.

Want to help? We’re always looking for new cooks! Sign up through our webpage www.lasagnalove.org Or - You can donate money to our national nonprofit through our webpage as well!

You’ve been BOOed – Never has it been so much fun to get BOOed! A Halloween Boo is a little gift or treat left anonymously by a friend or neighbor. Once you have been booed, you hang a ghost picture on your front door, to let everyone know you’ve gotten your Halloween surprise. But there’s more! Booing is a pay-it-forward game: Once you are booed, it’s your turn to choose two neighbors and deliver treats to their house. We hope you will participate! #palisadeshalloween2020 #palisadesboo

The detective assigned to the sexual assault case which happened Thursday on MacArthur Blvd, called the mother of the 13yr old victim and told her they arrested a suspect in this case. The detective was not able to give too many details but assured her they had plenty of evidence and it would all be presented at the suspect's trial.

The family would like you all to know they are very grateful to the neighbors who assisted police by giving them video footage from their home security cameras and for all the positive thoughts and prayers sent their way.

The family also wants to send a big thank you to the MPD and the MPD's Youth Division.

Celebrate July 4th - starting tonight!

The PCA is celebrating the 4th of July this year in a safe, socially distant style and here is the celebration schedule for you!

Tonight, July 3, 6PM- Live Zoom Pie Eating Contest!
10 Palisades youngsters will participate over Zoom in our first ever virtual pie eating contest. Officer MacElwee will be judging and the competition will be tough. We have our youngest ever contestant and a reigning champion ready to defend the crown... Don't miss this event and be sure to be on time - only the first 90 viewers will be able to log in. After that - you'll have to wait until it's posted to YouTube tomorrow.

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86216993640

Tomorrow, July 4, 11AM- Virtual Parade!
Tune into our brand new PCA YouTube channel to watch a celebration of our parade and neighborhood. You will be dazzled by videos and photos from past parades, hear some amazing music, and see our DC leaders give their nod to our amazing Palisades parade tradition. Tune in! Various videos and interviews will be available at 10am as well. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn7VwvyGf7Y0WEA7NTwI_ew/

Tomorrow, July 4, 8:30pm - Light Up MacArthur!
The PCA invites everyone to come to the MacArthur Blvd median for Light up MacArthur! Look for volunteers handing out sparklers along the median of the regular parade route (Whitehaven to Edmonds). Come early with your own fire so you are ready to light your sparkler at 8:30pm sharp! New Development - our sparklers are now 20 inches long... but will sparkle just as bright and bring just as much joy - many thanks to DC for bringing us up to speed on sparkler regulations! We'll have buckets of water as well for extra safety. Sparklers can be deposited in the buckets after the event. Please come prepared with face coverings and be mindful of social distancing.

This year may look very different, but the strength and connection of our community is unchanged and unwavering! Happy 4th of July!
