DC Prep is a network of public charter schools serving over 2,100 preschool through 8th grade students across six campuses in Wards 5, 7, and 8. We’re proud of being the highest-performing public charter network in Washington, DC – our students deserve our best! – while recognizing that how we support our students to be successful is as important as the results we achieve. That pushes us to reflec

While this work is hard, it’s worth it – we believe in the transformative power of education, the can-do-it-ness of our students and staff, and the joy that comes from engaging in meaningful work with people we care about and trust! The vote is on Tuesday. And we can’t let the current budget proposal move forward. DC charter schools would receive $2,000 per student than other DC public schools. It’s not fair to our kids.

Comment with your Councilmember’s name to let them know you vote, and you don’t support the budget workaround that would lead to inequitable funding for nearly half of DC’s kids.

The current budget proposal gives charter schools $2,000 less per student than DCPS schools.

If this budget passes as is, our school may not be able to give teachers raises or hire new teachers next year.

DC is having a tough budget year, no question. But it is unfair for DC charter school students to carry a bigger burden of the budget pain than other public school students.

DC needs to ensure public school students, not just some.

Like, comment, share if you agree.
____

All DC students deserve equitable funding.

Next year, charter school students are set to receive $1,850 less per student than DCPS students for resources that support learning, growth, and opportunity.

Charter school students are public school students, and every student deserves equal investment.

We stand with our students, families, educators, and community in advocating fair funding for all DC public school students.

Our Preppies explored nature, gardening, and environmental learning during their visit to the Washington Youth Garden at the U.S. National Arboretum.

Students from DC Prep Edgewood Middle Campus participated in hands-on activities and team-building experiences that encouraged curiosity, collaboration, and exploration beyond the classroom.

Throughout the day, students learned about agriculture, pollinators, composting, and sustainable growing practices while tasting fruits, vegetables, herbs, and even homegrown honey from the on-site bee farm.

Experiences like these help bring classroom learning to life while encouraging students to continue asking questions about the world around them. This visit also connected beautifully to our Inclusion Week theme, “I belong, you belong, we belong,” as part of our “We Care for the World” celebration.
