Cities around the world are experiencing an unprecedented mental health crisis, with staggering increases in rates of stress, depression, and loneliness. Addressing this crisis requires an all-of-government approach led by leaders at the local level who know how best to serve their residents.
Under the leadership of U.S. Conference of Mayors President @mayorschieve, a USCM delegation met with local and global mental health leaders in London, Bristol, and Paris last week to discuss what’s truly working in our cities and new solutions to get Americans the help they need.
Addressing the surging mental health crisis is the top priority of U.S. Conference of Mayors President Mayor Hillary Schieve. Great meetings in Bristol today with local and global leaders and mental health experts to share what’s working in America’s cities, to forge partnerships, and to bring home solutions that can make a real impact in our cities. #futurecity23
Addressing the mental health crisis is not a political issue — it touches nearly every family, individual, and community across the country.
As Congress returns from recess, USCM President Mayor Hillary Schieve is continuing the fight for comprehensive federal mental health legislation to get Americans the help they need and deserve.

Expanding Broadband Access
Access to quality, affordable broadband isn’t just a rural issue — millions of Americans in cities still lack access.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be highlighting how mayors nationwide are investing in programs to close the digital divide and build more equitable communities.
Today, mayors from across the country joined President Joe Biden to commemorate the passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun safety legislation in decades.
Still, every day in America's cities, mayors are taking action to protect their residents from gun violence.
Earlier this month, mayors overwhelmingly passed a resolution asserting that overturning Roe v. Wade would not just impact their residents’ ability to access critical healthcare services, it would diminish federalism and the institution itself, calling on Congress to swiftly pass legislation to codify a woman's right to choose.
