Last week, our Upper Elementary went on our annual trip for 3 days and 2 nights. This year, hosted us and we had a blast zip lining, fire building, hiking - and eating delicious food! Students returned dirty and very happy!

Our East End elementary team toured the new building on Friday, checking out the construction progress and their future classrooms. Thanks to our partner, the building will be ready for school to open in August. We’re thrilled to imagine this purpose-built Montessori space!

On Monday evening, the DC Public Charter School Board held the 10 year review for Lee Montessori’s charter to operate our school. The PCSB voted unanimously to continue our charter with no conditions. This is a tribute to everyone who has worked at, led, and volunteered for Lee over the past 10 years, as well as to the parents who have entrusted their children to us. Here’s to the next 10 years and beyond!

Our annual Gala and Silent Auction on Saturday was definitely a night to remember! We celebrated together and raised over $100,000 for playground renewal, Montessori materials, and more. Our students deserve this, and we are so grateful to all of our volunteers, attendees, auction donors, auction bidders, and sponsors.

Last Tuesday, our Upper Elementary students experienced a once in a lifetime masterclass from Mr. Ralph Fiennes. After our students attended MACBETH as participants in The Shakespeare Theater Company’s school program, Mr. Fiennes visited Lee to workshop the play for our budding Shakespearean actors.

Thank you and Mr. Fiennes for an incredible experience! You have inspired us all! 🎭

A little rain couldn’t spoil the fun at our East End block party today! Face painting, a bounce house, a book fair (and our new Principal Hallie), some yummy grilled burgers and hot dogs, art and wishes for the future…and many more activities to bring our beautiful community together thanks to our awesome FTA!

The rain went away and we hit a major milestone in our East End construction yesterday: the concrete pour atop the foundation! Now things accelerate as we start building the actual structure. Steel frame coming soon. We’ll have our team (third photo) keep a close eye on the process!

“The earth goes round the sun, the earth goes round the sun” - birthdays are special days in our Montessori classrooms, even for teachers! We celebrate trips around the sun with a ceremony that builds understanding of time, seasons, and the solar system. When it’s an adult birthday, we also have a math lesson, because we need to count the trips around the sun using both the units and tens places!
