Humanitarian Mapping Society - GW The GW Humanitarian Mapping Society seeks to render aid and better the world through Humanitarian Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects.

The Humanitarian Mapping Society of the George Washington University and a founding member of Youth Mappers, brings together those who seek to render aid and better the world through humanitarian Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects. This organization will facilitate inter-disciplinary learning, aim to create involved international citizens in the GW community, and assist humanitarian, aid, and relief organizations in their global work. To bring together those at GW who wish to assist aid, relief, and humanitarian organizations in their various missions around the world. This assistance will take the form of including, but not limited to, assimilating, creating, organizing, verifying, and disseminating GIS data. Organizations that GWHMS may partner with include, but are not limited to, The World Bank, The Red Cross, USAID, The Department of State, and The OpenStreetMaps Foundation. This organization will facilitate intercultural and interdisciplinary learning, creating more international citizens in the GW community, and fostering the proliferation of geographic knowledge and information.
