“A woman showed real courage in coming forward and telling the Ethics Committee that she was sexually harassed and assaulted by Representative Gomez. She deserves a process that is fast, fair, and fearless,” said Congresswoman Kat Cammack. “Due process must be respected, but it cannot be used to run out the clock. The committee should move with urgency, and if these allegations are substantiated, Representative Gomez must resign and any criminal conduct must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The statement from the attorneys Wednesday dispute the California Democrat's claims that his interactions with their client were consensual.

“No Member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, is above accountability. Congressional employees deserve a workplace free from harassment and abuse, and every person who comes forward deserves to be heard and treated with dignity.

“A woman showed real courage in coming forward and telling the Ethics Committee that she was sexually harassed and assaulted by Representative Gomez. “The standard cannot change depending on who is accused. Wrong is wrong. The power imbalance between a Member of Congress and a congressional staffer does not disappear simply because that staffer works for another office. Congress must close the gaps that allow sexual misconduct and abuse of power to persist.”

Its enduring legacy was on beautiful display in today’s Florida primary, where two remarkable women, ages 110 and 107—both born before the 19th Amendment was ratified—proudly cast their ballots.

More than a century later, they remind us never to take this precious right for granted. Generations of women fought for a seat at the table. We honor them by showing up and making our voices heard. 🇺🇸
