"Danny Boy" - Traditional, arranged by Chief Master Sgt. (ret.) Floyd Werle

A CELTIC CLASSIC | Originating from a 17th century tune, “Danny Boy” is perhaps the most well known and beloved Celtic tune. Interestingly, the lyrics to the popular Irish tune were written in 1910 by an English lawyer, Frederick Edward Weatherly.

While this song is a beloved classic, there is an air of mystery regarding the story behind the lyrics. Even today, scholars are unsure about the identity of “Danny Boy” but the sentiment is clear. We can all identify with the sense of longing to be reunited with those we love.

Please enjoy this stirring arrangement of the Irish classic tune, “Danny Boy”!

"Irish Blessing"

NOTES FROM HOME | One of the most well known traditional Celtic tunes, "Irish Blessing" is a prayer for safe travels and well wishes. The lyrics of wind, sun, and rain, allude to the Holy Trinity and Ireland's spiritual connection between the earth and the elements.

"May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand."

Irish Blessing - Traditional text, melody by - Denes Agay
arranger - Master Sgt. Eric Sullivan
