APAICS programs focus on developing leadership, building public policy knowledge, and filling the political pipeline for Asian Pacific Americans to pursue public office at the local, state, and federal levels. APAICS addresses the need for more Asian Pacific American political leaders at all levels, including: - A two day Leadership Academy for Asian Pacific American Elected Officials where participants are provided with training in various areas, including campaigning, fundraising, media relations and coalition building. - Fellowships and summer internships for qualified graduate and undergraduate students to work in the U.S. Congress, Federal government, or non-profit organizations. APAICS also partners with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) and Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) to offer several joint “Tri-Caucus” programs throughout the year. Through the Tri-Caucus, participants learn about coalition building and develop a greater understanding of the needs and challenges faced by different underserved minority groups.

This panel will bring together community voices to discuss current immigration policy and its impact on the AAPI community. In addition to recent immigration issues like family separation and DACA, the AAPI community is also affected by potential cuts to legal immigration as well.
This panel will bring together C-Suite representatives from various corporations to discuss how they reached their current positions, challenges they face as AAPIs in these roles and barriers to success and how they overcame them.
Maria Castaneda is the first elected Secretary-Treasurer of 1199 SEIU United Health Care Workers East. She holds the second highest position in her union, representing over 450,000 healthcare workers in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Maria is the highest ranking Asian American woman labor leader in the United States and chairs the SEIU API Caucus
This panel will discuss barriers to voting for the AAPI community, including strict voter ID requirements, voter purges and closing of polling places in minority communities, as well as efforts to protect the voting rights of minorities and to combat voter suppression, and strategies to protect the health of voters and poll workers in the time of COVID-19. #LLS2020 #APAICSLeads
This panel discussion will focus on the importance of re-engaging veterans as productive members of our broader workforce, including AAPI veterans. Attendees at this panel will hear from corporations about their strategies, challenges, and successes in their efforts to engage, recruit, and retain veterans within companies.
This panel will present the voices of AAPI leaders in the sports world. Participants represent a variety of roles within the broader sports universe, including managers, agents, and sports newscasters. This discussion will follow how they ended up in this industry, challenges they have faced in roles where there are few other AAPIs, and their thoughts on increasing diversity in these spaces.
