Kelsey chose SOME for her 8th grade project ๐Ÿ““ after being inspired by her parents' involvement and ๐Ÿ‘ positive online reviews. She also recognized the contrast between her well-resourced school and the shortages faced by schools in other parts of DC.

Thanks to her project and its supporters, Kelsey recently dropped off hundreds of school supplies โœ๏ธ๐ŸŽ’ that will help 300+ kids living in SOMEโ€™s affordable housing program.

We're happy to have these supplies ready for the next school year ๐Ÿ“š, but we still need your support to ensure local families thrive all summer long. โ˜€๏ธ Donate today to support SOME families: https://bit.ly/45Jx2Lt

Our Story

In 1970, Father Horace McKenna, S.J. and an interfaith group of priests, ministers, and lay persons founded So Others Might Eat to help feed the cityโ€™s destitute citizens.

After several years, SOMEโ€™s founders saw needs beyond what the small soup kitchen could provide and began delivering additional services to support and nourish the neediest of our residents.

Today, SOME offers comprehensive programs that meet a full spectrum of needs while giving a sense of dignity to the poor and homeless of the District of Columbia.
