On 21 May 2026, the Embassy participated at the GWHCC annual business expo held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

H. E Ambassador D. Hamadziripi made time to visit
the exhibition which featured over 60 business exhibitors with Zimbabwe being one of the selected Embassies to participate.

The expo allowed exhibitors to promote their offerings and create partnerships that drive growth. The Zimbabwe stand showcased tourism and investment opportunities, featuring promotional materials and products that are available in Zimbabwe for the US market. Business leaders visiting the stand were impressed by investment prospects and potential partnerships in Zimbabwe. This platform enabled connections with leading businesses and potential investors, fostering partnerships that will enable them to invest in the country.

The event was particularly significant as it marked the GWHCC's 50th anniversary.
Zimbabwe is open for business, and the mission will continue to represent the country at strategic platforms to realize Vision 2030.

Ambassador D. Hamadziripi recently held a meeting with Edwin Sheppard, founder of Blindfolded International Student Cultural Exchange Program at the Chancery.

The discussion centered on cultural exchange programs offered by his organization. We eagerly await their participation in a cultural exchange program to experience Zimbabwe's culture.

Highlights from Passport DC Around the World 2026 at Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe-USA

Crowds came, we stamped their souvenir passports, creating a memorable experience for them, they learnt about our country, engaged with our team, sampled our cuisine ,enjoyed the music and had photo amazing opportunities.

Thanks to Events DC for such an incredible show!

Most of the people who came showed interest in visiting our country in future. Zimbabwe is indeed a beautiful country to visit.

This morning, H.E Ambassador Hamadziripi officially welcomed visitors to the Chancery as part of the Passport DC Around the World Tour, providing a unique opportunity for attendees to experience Zimbabwe's diverse attractions.

The Mission’s showcase featured Zimbabwe's tourism attractions, cultural artifacts, trade and investment opportunities, local cuisine, and music, complemented by a photo shoot opportunity set against the iconic backdrop of Victoria Falls.

The Ambassador and his spouse actively engaged with guests, delivering in-depth explanations of the exhibits and sharing insightful information about the country.

Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 at 46 !!!

On 24 April 2026, the Mission observed the country’s 46th Independence anniversary at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC, under the theme 'Zimbabwe at 46, Unity and Development Towards Vision 2030.' The event was attended by 200 esteemed guests, including the Diplomatic Corps, business leaders, and the Zimbabwean diaspora.

His Excellency, Ambassador David D. Hamadziripi delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the significance of economic diplomacy in Zimbabwe's foreign policy as the country strives to achieve its vision of becoming an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

The Guest of Honor , Honorable Mr. Jason Grubb, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs at the US Department of State, highlighted potential areas of collaboration in his speech, focusing on agriculture, tourism, mining, and technology. The event successfully facilitated connections and networking opportunities among the attendees.

Ambassador D. Hamadziripi welcomed students and teachers from Watkins Elementary School to the Chancery through the Embassy Adoption Program, an initiative organized in collaboration with Washington Performing Arts and DC Public Schools. This program enables Embassies to engage with local schools, facilitating cultural exchange and historical knowledge sharing.

Over the course of the 2025-2026 academic year, the Mission made three visits to the school, giving presentations that covered Zimbabwe's main attractions, cultural traditions, and history. The students' booklet passports were stamped upon arrival, as part of a 'welcome to Zimbabwe' experience. The students shared their understanding of Zimbabwe based on previous engagements. The Ambassador presented gifts to the students, with many expressing a desire to visit Zimbabwe with their families in the future.
