No child should be forced to endure these conditions.

At the Dilley detention center, reports indicate that children have been served food contaminated with mold and worms, exposed to unsafe drinking water, denied timely medical care, and deprived of meaningful access to education. These are deeply troubling allegations that demand accountability.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus calls on the Trump administration to and ensure that children are treated with dignity, humanity, and respect.

While Republicans pour billions into expanding mass deportation, the CHC is focused on what families actually need: lower costs. Today, we launched our first-ever Lower Costs, Grow Opportunity Agenda—built around four priorities: lowering the cost of groceries, housing, health care, and energy—and a legislative roadmap of nearly 100 CHC-led bills to help working families. It’s time Congress put affordability first.

🚨 One year later, the “One Big Beautiful Bill” is costing Latino families more. While the richest 1% got an average $8,850 tax cut, almost all Latino families are paying about $850 more. Higher costs. More expensive health care. Bigger bills. Less money in your pocket. That’s not affordability, it’s a tax giveaway to the wealthy.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Leadership is demanding answers. Rep. Adriano Espaillat Rep. Sylvia Garcia Congressman Darren Soto Andrea Salinas Rep. Rob Menendez Rep. Norma J. Torres Congressman Gilbert R. Cisneros Jr. Rep. Joaquin Castro

Following the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during an ICE enforcement operation in Houston, CHC Leadership has sent a letter to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin and Acting ICE Director Todd Venturella demanding a full, independent, and transparent investigation.

This tragedy raises serious questions about the conduct of federal immigration enforcement operations and the growing consequences of the Administration’s escalation tactics. Communities deserve accountability, transparency, and policies that protect public safety and human dignity—not fear.

We will continue to press for answers, oversight, and meaningful reforms at DHS.
