We are endorsing Joshua Dantzler for AUSG because he is the ONLY candidate who altogether: is actively and continuously involved in the Black community, has consistently proven that he is for AU students and not AU admin, has a plan for Black women, and has never co-opted the community’s work.

We are endorsing Tamir Harper because he is a changemaker with a history of tirelessly supporting AU students and the community. He is the only candidate for this position that has proven his understanding of both allyship and the flaws that run deep within AUSG. He is the only candidate who is running to serve AU students.

We are endorsing Hanya Pillai because she is the only candidate with enough experience to properly advocate for students. We trust that she will build a transparent and collaborative partnership between her team and the Black community.

We are endorsing Jacob Robbins because of his in-depth knowledge of the financial systems within AUSG and the university as a whole. He understands how finances can both negatively and positively impact our community and he is committed to involving Black organizations in reforming the comptroller’s position.

We are calling for the reimbursement of housing/dining costs for the remainder of the semester and the option to take courses for this semester as pass/fail. This transition is incredibly difficult for students and we need all the support from AU that we can get.

Dear all, I am an American Studies doctoral candidate at the Freie Universität, Berlin (Germany), writing a dissertation on celebrity feminism in contemporary US-American pop music. From March 16th to the 21st I will be in Washington DC to interview anyone who wants to discuss pop music celebrities that are labelled as feminist by themselves, their fans, or the media. Examples of such celebrity feminists are Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Katy Perry, Lorde, Selena Gomez, Fergie, Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Gaga. I want to use interviews as the starting point for my research. If you (or someone you know) have an opinion on these things, I would love to chat with you! You can reach me through Facebook chat or send an email to [email protected]. Best wishes, Annelot Prins P.S. For more about me and my project, please visit:

CONTACT ME IF INTERESTED!! An opportunity to be in a documentary with Tommie Smith. On November 6th, the School of Public Affairs is pleased to partner with renowned conceptual artist, Glenn Kaino, and 1968 Olympic Gold Medalist Tommie Smith to film a workshop for the upcoming documentary, With Drawn Arms. With Drawn Arms is a public project that will introduce Tommie’s courageous act to an entirely new generation while literally and figuratively bridging the role his silent protest played in 1968 to the collective action we are seeing in the world today. Selected students will complete a series of drawings of Tommie’s iconic race while engaging in a robust, personal dialogue with Tommie and Glenn about human rights, movement building, and the salute.
