We join our hermanas from MANA de North Texas in mourning the loss of Board Member and Madrina, Diana Pittman. On behalf of our MANA National Board of Directors, our Chapters, Affiliates, and Members nationwide, we extend our deepest sympathies to Diana's family and friends. Last night, Senator Mike Lee made the misguided and insulting decision to block the unanimous passage of the National Museum of the American Latino Act. Latino Americans have shaped every aspect of our nation’s past, just as we will continue to shape our future. By blocking the passage of this bill, Senator Lee has made it clear that he does not consider the stories of Latino Americans worthy of being told, but this fight is not over. We will continue to push for a #LatinoMuseumNow.

The National Museum of the American Latino Act has bipartisan support and would create a museum dedicated to honoring Latino history and culture - and it just moved to the Senate floor. We are closer than ever to a #LatinoMuseumNow, but we need your help.

Despite shaping and growing every aspect of this great nation for over 500 years, Latinos are the most underrepresented in the Smithsonian’s collections. The Senate now must take action and VOTE! Learn more about our bill and how to get involved at

Every new president can choose a team to advance their agenda. Thus, the incoming Biden-Harris Administration will have more than 9,000 new political jobs, all of which are listed in the “Plum Book”. There are also numerous part time board and commissions where you could have a voice on behalf of underrepresented groups while making our country better.

MANA is proud to join RespectAbility, Inclusive America, Color of Change, RepresentWomen and more on an expert panel who will discuss navigating the “Plum Book” and identify the process for being considered for political appointments. December 7th, learn how YOU can make a difference in the next Administration!

One of our own wise Latinas is running for office in Washington, DC. She was born in Columbia, raised in the Lower East Side of NYC, and moved to DC when she got a scholarship to attend Georgetown University for law school. She is civil rights attorney and has been working hard for our families ever since. If you live in DC, learn about her by clicking below and spread the word. If she wins, she would be the FIRST immigrant and the FIRST Latina to represent DC. I have known her for 20 years and will be voting for her. I hope you will too!

Thanks so much for all the great work you do to support our Latino Community. I'm a human rights activist who shot this 6 min devastating film related to the separation of families and the unfair criminalization of undocumented immigrants. www.americannightmarefilm.com I would love for you to watch it and share it as you feel appropriate. The goal is to awaken our empathy and support good comprehensive immigration reform. Thanks so much for caring and for being such a LIGHT to this world!

Seeking LATINA Veterans/Active Duty Servicewomen for Research Study Interviews My name is Teresa Daniell and I am currently working on my dissertation, which will focus on Latina Veterans and Latina active duty service women and how they discuss their identity. I will investigate the terms Latina veterans/servicewomen use to identify themselves and what experiences and roles helped shape their sense of identity as well as their attitudes, opinions, and beliefs about their status as Latina veterans or active duty military members. This study has been approved by the University of Maryland Baltimore County Institutional Review Board. Very little information on Latina servicewomen and veterans is available and my purpose for this study is to facilitate more awareness of this population that has historically been marginalized and largely opaque to mainstream American culture. I am recruiting Veterans or servicewomen currently on active duty who self-identify as Latinas and who have served in any branch of the military for at least two years and are 21 years of age or older. I am asking participants to discuss their experiences in the military in face to face or Skype interviews approximately 60 to 90 minutes long. The interviews will be audio recorded, however, I will take various measures to ensure confidentiality. Only pseudonyms will be used on the transcribed data unless permission to do so is granted by you as the participant. Also, participants may request to be removed from the study during or after the interview. The interviews will take place at a date, time, and location of the participant’s convenience. Please contact me at [email protected] if you are interested in participating in this study or for more information. I also have a blog that provides information on this study if you are interested in reviewing that at latinavets.wordpress.com.
CONGRATULATIONS.........!
Today at 11:39am https://www.gofundme.com/9347qp-oh-woma… Good Morning, I wanted to bring to your attention a University of Central Florida capstone project that was chosen to reflect the struggles of a young Latina woman in Florida in 1910. It is not a view that is often portrayed. The director has partnered with One Heart for Women and Children which is an organization that helps homeless women and children. For each $25.00 donation members of the film crew will donate an hour to help with food, hygiene supplies, education and counselling. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

PASOS DESTEMPLADOS another noir fiction of Alejandro Marin blog: cortemoslacarajo.blogspot.com A murder that has taken place in the Argentine city of Rosario confronts Jordi Gonorria, an economist and cook and his friend Quito Verdudo, a retired police officer, with a new mystery. The drug trafficking that has infested Rosario, the never-quite-revealed secrets of nazism in Argentina in the late '40s and international financial fraud, will set the backdrop to, and eventually elucidate, their investigation. On the way, they will be joined by old friends, a blend of fictional, picturesque and in-the-flesh characters who have left their footprints and the vicissitudes of the relationship between our economist and his new girlfriend. This lithe and riveting narration is packed with culinary stories and mouthwatering recipes, insightful reflections on today's economy and situations that will not cease to surprise the reader.
