🇷🇴🇺🇸 Romanian Roots. American Drive. A Global Music Vision.
Oana Ruxandra has spent years at the intersection of music, business, and technology—helping some of the world’s largest music companies navigate their relationships with platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, and TikTok.Her career has taken her through senior leadership roles at Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, where she worked on strategy, business development, and the transformation of an industry being rewritten by streaming and technology.
But her story began far from those negotiating tables.
Born in Romania, Oana arrived in the United States as a child without speaking English. She learned to adapt without losing her sense of where she came from, eventually studying at Columbia University and building a career that moved from finance into the heart of the global entertainment business.
Today, as technology and AI once again challenge the rules of creativity and ownership, she is thinking about what comes next. Her prediction is striking: “Intellectual property as we know it today will no longer exist.”
And through all that reinvention, her identity remains remarkably clear: “I define myself as an immigrant, and I define myself as Romanian.”
Perhaps that is the heart of her journey: Romanian roots gave her a place to begin; the American experience gave her room to become. Hard work connected the two.
A compelling Romanian-American story—and another reminder of how far talent can travel without ever leaving its roots behind. 🇷🇴🤝🇺🇸
