PFFC: Committed to Advocacy, Outreach, and Peer Mentoring A group of currently and formerly homeless advocates who assemble at Miriam's Kitchen every Tuesday morning from 8:15 to 9:30am

Due to unfair treatment at an ICH meeting a few years back, most of its attendees were treated as Third Class Citizens. Because of this, a group of concerned individuals gathered together to address the issues concerning the heat and hot water in one of the city's shelters, as well as the events which led to the closing of Franklin School Shelter in downtown Washington, DC. During the summer of 20

08, this same group was determined to form an organization, select a name, wrote a mission statement, and set their goals to plan a campaign to protect the housing rights of people in poverty, as well as being very protective in moving their own lives and vulnerable people of DC to self-sufficiency. It took four weeks to come up with a new name, in which one of the original members saw, thus forming the People for Fairness Coalition.
