🚦 New Stop Signs in Cedar Hills 🚦
You may have noticed three new stop signs in the Cedar Hills addition. These were not originally installed by the developer, and I was not a fan of the Town having to purchase them.
However, one of your neighbors, Kashyn Harper, stepped up in a big way and personally obtained three very nice stop signs for the neighborhood. The Town happily agreed to install them, and they are now in place thanks to her initiative.
If you see Kashyn, please tell her thank you, without her, those signs would not be there. And a big shout out to our buff stud muffin, Collin, for getting them set and hung like a pro.
Community taking care of community…that’s how Washington does it.
P.S. I definitely didn’t ask Collin if he attempted to dance while getting these hung, I now have plausible deniability! Collin Hardcastle

Water Line Update
The company that has had a few…let’s say “issues”…with the school’s water line has agreed to install a brand new, never‑before‑used, super fancy water line for the Town of Washington as a “sorry for the inconvenience” gift.
To get it tied in, they will need to shut the water off on Tuesday for a very short time so they can connect everything and let it set up properly. This should happen mid morning after most folks head to work, but we wanted to give everyone a heads up so you can plan for it!
As always, if you need anything or have questions, call me.

Money, money, money, money!
(yes I sung this as I typed it)
Wanna know where all your hard‑earned money that’s paid to the Town is currently being spent? Well, you’re in luck! Linked below is the proposed Fiscal Year 26–27 budget, which will be discussed and voted on at the next Town Board meeting "PUBLIC HEARING" scheduled for June 9th.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out and ask them directly. I’m not sure folks on Facebook who didn’t help make the budget will be able to answer them (though I’m sure a few will try anyway).

Town Hall Hours Update: June 1–4
Next week, June 1st through June 4th, I’ll be out of the office each morning so I can serve as the “front desk police officer” at Wildwood’s Vacation Bible School while my son is there all four days.
Town Hall will still be open, but I will not be in the office until around 12:30 p.m. each day. I know that’s an inconvenience, and I’m genuinely sorry for any extra juggling this causes.
The good news: I’ll have my laptop and phone with me, so I’ll still be available to take calls, answer emails, and handle town business you just won’t get to see my charming face in person until after lunch. Think of it as a temporary upgrade to “remote Town Administrator” status.
We know our office staff is thin right now, and we’re actively working through several qualified applicants to bring someone on board who has that small-town, front-desk friendliness with a strong background in government work. Our goal is to hire someone who can hit the ground running and serve Washington with that hometown feel we all value. Super Collin (occasionally mistaken for Ant-Man) will still be at Town Hall and ready to help in any way he can while I’m out in the mornings. Please be patient with us as we balance serving the town and serving at VBS.
Thank you for understanding, and I’ll see you each day after my boy gets himself a little Jesus.

WATER ISSUE
I know it feels like I’m making this post every week, and I’m sorry in advance.
You can crucify the messenger if you need to, but the water line at the school has blown again. This is not the Town’s fault, but we’re the ones you call when you don’t have enough water to take a shower, so here I am.
The company handling the project is en route Code 3 and will have it repaired as soon as they can.
In the meantime, take this as your reminder that it’s a great time to have that gym membership. Go lift some really heavy stuff, work out all those demon aggressions you’ve got about that faulty water line, and grab yourself a shower before coming back to town. Then swing by Althea’s Vault and treat yourself to something tasty—you earned it, BUT ONLY IF YOU LIFTED HEAVY ENOUGH!

This Memorial Day, let’s take a moment to remember the loved ones we have lost and honor those who gave their all for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Some sacrifices should never have had to be made, but we remember them, we honor them, and we thank each and every one of them.
Also, a quick town administrator reminder: trash service does not run on holidays. So sit back, enjoy the day, and remember the freedom we have was given to us by someone else.
Have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Memorial Day Trash Update
I have been asked if trash will run tomorrow. The short answer is: I am not 100% sure. I have asked, but apparently trash schedules like to keep a little mystery in our lives.
Since Memorial Day is a federal holiday, I would assume they may not run. So here is the highly technical, government-approved plan:
Set your trash can out like normal.
If they pick it up tomorrow, fantastic. Roll it back to the house.
If they do not pick it up tomorrow, also fantastic. Leave it out there until Tuesday, and then roll that sucker back to the house one day late.
Look at that. We solved a small-world issue on a holiday weekend.
Have a great and safe Memorial Day weekend!
Brandon!

Ladies and Gents of the Washington area,

A quick update on our small‑town cemetery before Memorial Day weekend:

Due to the rain in the forecast, two volunteers stepped up this week and mowed the cemetery to help the Town out, and the American Legion placed American Flags for the holiday. The grounds should be in good shape for Memorial Day weekend.

We will be placing banners with QR codes at the cemetery; if you feel inclined to donate to the Cemetery Fund, please do. Those funds will stay in the cemetery account and will not be used until the deed, and ownership issues are resolved. Whether the Town ultimately takes ownership or a cemetery association is formed, your generosity will be greatly appreciated.

The Board will have the cemetery on the agenda for our next meeting on June 9 for open discussion so we can hear how residents would like to see this move forward. The informal polling was very close but ended around 60/40 in favor of the Town taking full ownership and maintenance of the cemetery grounds. Please plan to attend the June 9 meeting to calmly share your opinions, ideas, or concerns.

Also, if you want to know when Town meetings and events are happening, this is the official page where those will always be posted. Others are welcome to share, but the Town is only associated with this account.

Please join the Town of Washington in welcoming our new Public Safety Administrator, Master Sergeant (Ret.) Clay Cline.
Msgt. Cline comes to us after an extensive career with the Oklahoma City Police Department, where he earned numerous accomplishments and accolades, including creating the “Muscles and Mentors” program through the Police Athletic League. This program, developed and run by Msgt. Cline, pairs youth with positive role models to teach discipline, life lessons, and a commitment to physical fitness though becoming as “swoll” as Msgt. Cline himself may be a feat the rest of us can only aspire to.
Clay has deep roots in our community, having lived in this area his entire life and attending Washington First Baptist Church for most of it, only leaving for a few short stints. He began his law enforcement career here in McClain County, and we consider ourselves fortunate to have him back to help lead our public safety efforts as he finishes out his service toward full retirement.
Please help us welcome Public Safety Administrator Clay Cline back home to Washington in the comments and when you see him out in the community.
