Public Works Superintendent Position

The City of Washington, Kansas, is accepting applications for Public Works Superintendent. The applicant must possess a valid Kansas Class B CDL and HS Diploma/GED. Knowledge in vehicle and equipment maintenance and operations, along with supervisory, managerial and leadership skills, is required for this position. This position requires residency within a five-mile radius of the City, and on-call coverage on a rotating basis. This position requires Class 2 Water and Class 1 Wastewater operator certifications.

Who’s Knocking on Doors in Washington? It’s Zofia Malesa!

If you’ve noticed someone going door-to-door around Washington during the day, meet Zofia, a university student from Poland, Europe, here on a summer exchange program! She has completed all the steps to be approved for her license in Washington.

Zofia is offering educational books and learning apps for families—perfect for kids from toddlers all the way up to college prep.

This is Zofia’s first week in Washington, and she’s excited to meet local families!

8/6/26 update: Problem solved, we WILL open at 3 pm today!

we will continue to monitor the pool and hopefully we can open at 3pm.

due to a maintenance issue opening will be delayed due to at least 2 pm. We will re evaluate and update here.
