As has become a tradition, South Strabane Firefighters were proud to once again support the Trinity East PTA Auction by donating a special ride to school with our firefighters, helping raise funds for student activities and programs.

Another year, another very happy South Strabane resident!

This morning, firefighters had the pleasure of escorting Abigail to Trinity East Elementary in style. Judging by the smile on her face, we’d call it a successful trip!

Thank you to the Trinity East PTA for all they do to support students, and congratulations to Abigail and her family. We hope to see her wearing fire gear and riding the truck again in just a few years!

🚒📚❤️ A great community tradition that never gets old.

* 4/29/26 Update - Multiple Incidents *

We’ve received several questions regarding the increased emergency activity and sirens this evening.

Between approximately 6:30 PM and 7:15 PM, South Strabane firefighters responded to a high volume of calls resulting from a widespread power outage affecting the western portion of the township, as well as surrounding communities. In addition to multiple automatic fire alarms, crews assisted with emergency management operations, including deploying generators to maintain power to traffic signals.

Following this influx of calls, Crews participated in a joint training session with Canton Township Fire Department in our station, while three of our firefighters were also attending a Firefighter II prep course at Westmoreland County Community College.

At approximately 9:00 PM, firefighters were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the Orchard Terrace area of the township. The resident reported a smoke detector activation along with the odor of something burning inside the home.

Upon investigation, crews determined the cause to be an electrical transformer within a household device. Power to the unit was safely isolated, and the situation was resolved without further incident.

We extend our thanks, as always, to our mutual aid partners and to both career and volunteer firefighters for their continued dedication in responding to these incidents.

South Strabane Fire Department was honored to join Trinity Area School District today at Trinity West’s Color Walk for Autism in support of a truly meaningful cause.

Truck 44-2, Chief 44, and several personnel attended along with our friends from Canton Township Fire in an event celebrating inclusion, awareness, and support for individuals with autism and their families.

Thank you to Trinity School District for the invitation and for hosting such a wonderful event. We are grateful to be part of a community that comes together to support one another.

Remember: Kindness is beautiful. 💙

This afternoon, South Strabane firefighters responded to assist the North Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company with a residential structure fire.

The incident marked a significant milestone, as Truck 44-2, our new aerial ladder truck responded for its first fire. This new apparatus enhances our ability to protect the community and support our mutual aid partners across the region.

Multiple South Strabane units, including Engine 2, Truck 2, Chief 44, Assistant 44, and two squads, responded alongside several neighboring departments.

We extend our sincere thanks to Chartiers Township Fire Department for providing station coverage during the incident, ensuring continued protection for our residents while crews operated on scene.

We also appreciate Paramedic Isabella Frazier with Ambulance & Chair EMS, Inc. for capturing photos of Truck 44-2’s maiden response!
