Washington MO Parks & Recreation Department offers facility & pavilion rentals, youth & adult programming, tennis & pickleball courts, outdoor pool, splash pad, nature reserve, lake, riverfront park, dog park, disc golf course, skate park and trails. Washington is home to 550 total park acres, divided amongst 11 parks. Throughout these 550 acres you will find numerous opportunities for recreation

and fun, no matter what your interests may be. We have something for everyone! Our Department strives to provide the highest quality leisure experiences for each and every person in our community. This is based on our mission statement: “To always provide the highest quality system of park facilities and recreation activities as mandated by the community through participatory and financial support.”

Our staff always loves to hear what your thoughts are on what we are doing. Please feel free to contact any member of our staff with your ideas and comments. The City of Washington Parks Department looks forward to seeing you, your friends, and family at one of our parks in the near future.

Washington, it’s time to clean out those closets, garages, and storage spaces — and turn those treasures into someone else’s finds! 🎉

The Fall 2026 City Wide Garage Sale is coming up, and we want YOU to be part of it!

📅 REGISTER BY SEPTEMBER 18TH to have your garage sale included in the official City Wide Garage Sale Booklet!

The booklet will showcase participating garage sales throughout Washington, including what you’ll be selling, so shoppers can plan their treasure-hunting route!

To be included, you must:
✔️ Be located within Washington city limits
(If you pay the City of Washington for your water, you are considered to be in city limits.)

✔️ Register your garage sale
✔️ Tell us what you’ll be selling
✔️ List any specific or special items you want shoppers to know about
✔️ Include your garage sale hours

NOTICE! 🚧 Riverfront Trail Closure

Please be advised that the Riverfront Trail will be closed at the west end of the loop from Wednesday, August 26, 2026, through Friday, August 28, 2026, while crews make necessary repairs to the bridge.

The concrete around the bridge has been washed out, and repairs are needed to ensure the area is safe for trail users.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to get the trail back in safe, usable condition. Please use caution and do not enter the closed area while repairs are underway.

It’s time to start cleaning out those closets, garages, and storage spaces! 🏡🛍️

The Citywide Garage Sale – Fall 2026 is coming to Washington, and we’re getting ready for another great weekend of bargain hunting and treasure finding!

🗓️ Register by September 18th to have your garage sale included in the official booklet.

To participate, you must be within Washington city limits (if you pay the City for your water, you are considered to be in city limits). When registering, be sure to include:
📦 An idea of what you’ll be selling
⭐ Any specific items you’d like highlighted
⏰ The days and times you’ll be open

📖 Garage Sale Booklets will be available September 22nd–25th at:

Washington Chamber of Commerce: 9 AM–4:30 PM

🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🦊🐺

We’re still looking for our fox and coyote decoys that have gone missing from Lions Lake. We know there has been a lot happening around the park lately, but we want to clarify that the decoys went missing BEFORE the fair.

These decoys serve an important purpose — they help deter geese from gathering at Lions Lake and damaging the park. 🪿🌳

If you have them, please return them! If you know where they are or have any information that could help us locate them, please reach out to Washington Parks & Recreation.

We truly don’t care who took them or why. We just want our fox and coyote back where they belong! No questions asked. ❤️

🚨 REMINDER: Post-Season Pool Hours 🏊☀️

Just a reminder that the pool is now operating on POST-SEASON HOURS and is CLOSED MONDAY–FRIDAY.

💦 Splash Pad:
The Splash Pad is FREE Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM–8:00 PM!

🏊 Weekend Pool Hours:
Saturday & Sunday | 12:00 PM–6:30 PM

On Saturdays and Sundays, the Splash Pad is part of the pool facility, so regular pool admission fees apply.

📌 Please check the posted signs at the facility or visit us online for the most up-to-date information regarding specific dates and times.

🏊 LAST DAY OF THE 2026 POOL SEASON:
Monday, September 7 – Labor Day
🕛 12:00 PM–6:30 PM

🌳 JAMES RENNICK RIVERFRONT PARK IS TAKING SHAPE! 🌳

Renovations at James Rennick Riverfront Park are coming together, and we couldn’t be more excited to see this space continue to grow and improve for our community! 🏞️

These improvements are made possible because of you — our community. The taxes you pay help provide the funding that allows us to invest in our parks, improve our public spaces, and create places our community can enjoy for years to come. ❤️

We also want to give a HUGE shout-out to Mark Tobben for his additional generous donation to help us keep James Rennick Riverfront Park looking beautiful and welcoming! Your generosity makes a difference and helps us go above and beyond. 🌿

From public funding to private generosity, it takes a community to build and maintain great parks. Thank you to everyone who helps make Washington’s parks something we can all be proud of!
