The South Strabane Police Department was honored to continue a favorite community tradition by supporting the Trinity East PTA Auction with a special “Ride to School in a South Strabane Police Car" experience. Proceeds from the auction help fund important student activities and programs throughout the year.

This morning, Tyler got a special es**rt to Trinity East Elementary as officers gave him a one-of-a-kind ride to school in a police car.

We extend our thanks to the Trinity East PTA for everything they do to support local students and families, and we congratulate Tyler and his family on winning this year’s experience. Thank you for having us participate in making the morning extra memorable!

📢As part of the education of vehicle operators, Police Departments along the SR 19 corridor will be conducting an education and enforcement initiative on June 1, stopping any drivers observed using their cell phones, even at a red light, to warn about the dangers of distracted driving.

South Strabane will join other police departments in this work. These Police Departments will be putting extra patrols on and around SR 19 in an effort to reduce distracted driving.

⚠️Beginning on June 06, 2026, Officers will begin issuing tickets for operators using a cell phone while driving.

Under PA’s new distracted driving law, known as Paul Miller’s law, drivers can be fined for using any mobile device while driving. That includes taking a quick scroll break at a red light or when stuck in
traffic!

On June 01, 2026, as part of the education of vehicle operators, Police Departments along the SR 19 corridor in the South Hills will be conducting an education and enforcement initiative, stopping any drivers observed using their cell phones, even at a red light, to warn about the dangers of distracted driving.
