Very cool throwback photo of the Blair House 😍

Did you know you can rent the Blair House for small parties & meetings? It's beautiful inside & out & charming as heck 🥰

This photo shows Blair House when it was owned by the city of Washington, used as City Hall and housed the fire department. The "Ladies Rest Room" sign is currently displayed in the Conger House museum in Washington. The east addition, which housed the fire department, was later torn down.

The weather finally cut our artists a break so they could do more work on the Icon Mural! 🙌

Brandy & Elizabeth make it look easy, but boy, is it hard work. 💪 Between the precise color coordination, the intricate details, and braving the sun (shout out to the sunburns 🥵), they are absolutely crushing it. 🎨

We are so lucky to have such talented hands bringing our downtown district to life. Next time you're downtown, be sure to walk by, check out the progress, and give them a wave!

We've said it before and we'll say it again (& again), we have the best business owners ❤️ We know construction is a headache, we know parking stinks on a good day, we know it's hard to get people in the door when it's open much less when it's blocked by cones 🫠

But guess what we also know? We know our City is doing this project to make things better. To make water quality and accessibility better and the businesses know that too 🥰 So while this summer/fall is going to be a little challenging, we're grateful for the progress and for wonderful businesses who are willing to help us work through it in a positive manner 👏🙌👏

Reminder that streetscape construction starts today 🙌

🚧 TRAFFIC & PARKING NOTICE – 2026 DOWNTOWN STREETSCAPE PROJECT 🚧

Construction crews have placed barricades on South Iowa Avenue and North Marion Avenue and work on the Downtown Streetscape Project is underway!

Residents and visitors should expect temporary parking restrictions and intermittent sidewalk closures in active construction areas.

Phase 1 construction, beginning today and expected to wrap up August 14th will affect:
• East side of 200 block South Iowa Avenue
• West side of 100 block North Marion Avenue

Phase 2 construction is expected to start August 3 running through mid-October will affect:
• East side of 100 block North Marion Avenue
• North side of 200 block West Washington Street
• East side of 100 block North Iowa Avenue

Please note:
✅ Downtown businesses remain OPEN and accessible.
✅ Safe pedestrian access will be maintained.
🚫 Parking directly in front of active work zones will be unavailable during construction.

⚠️ Drivers are encouraged to use caution, follow posted signs, and allow extra travel time when visiting downtown.
We appreciate everyone's patience as these improvements are completed. Updates will be provided as construction progresses.
