Officially designated in 2008 as a Main Street community in Iowa, MSW employs the National Main Street Center’s Four Point Approach to Downtown Revitalization. Volunteers work in a concerted fashion to enhance the social, physical, and economic well-being of our historic downtown district throug

h comprehensive efforts in the areas of Design, Organization, Promotion, and Economic Vitality. As a not-for-profit, community-driven organization, MSW is supported by public and private investors. Collaborative efforts and strategic partnerships maximize return on investment and create a culturally diverse, economically vibrant, and highly sustainable downtown district. Celebrating growth, music, and community! Last week was a busy one, and we loved every minute of it. 🌟

Our Executive Director had a blast out in the community attending two major events:
➡️Blackjack Beach Groundbreaking: We were thrilled to stand alongside our friends at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort / Elite Casino Resorts for the groundbreaking of Blackjack Beach! They’ve been amazing supporters of Downtown Washington for years, and we can't wait to see this exciting project come to life. 🏖️ Blackjack Beach RV & Water Resort is coming SOON! Be sure to give their page a follow so you don't miss any progress updates! 🌊👀

➡️ Adin's Music Studio Celebration: We officially welcomed one of Downtown Washington's newest additions! We had a blast meeting Adin’s sweet family, hearing him play piano, and enjoying some perfectly themed treats. 🎹🎸 Whether you're looking to start lessons for your kids or finally pick up an instrument yourself, Adin is open and ready to teach piano, guitar, or bass for all ages. Just look at that beautiful, smooth and vibrant sidewalk 🙌 The streetscape project is coming along, they're pouring on S Iowa and will be moving over to N Marion soon.

Don't forget, the shops and businesses are *OPEN* during construction so be sure to stop in, say hi and check out the progress! 🚧

We’ve had four fantastic retail shops open up in our district this year, each adding something unique to our community:

▪️Connelly’s Trading Cards – Buy, sell, and trade cards for collectors of all ages
▪️Pixie House + Gardens – Hand-poured candles, unique gifts, plant goodies, and vintage finds
▪️Knightrunner Tactical – Quality gear, equipment, and tactical supplies right here in our district
▪️Iron & Ivy Consignment – Great local consignment finds to buy, sell, or trade

While some are right along the main stretch, others are located just a block off, and trust us, they are 100% worth the extra steps! 👣

Don’t let the orange cones fool you—our local shops are OPEN for business! 🚧

Even though the main sidewalk is currently under construction, gravel walkways have been set up so you can safely access your favorite downtown spots! 🛠️

Pardon our dust as our streetscape gets a makeover. Navigating around the construction takes a tiny bit of extra effort right now, but supporting our local small businesses during this phase means the world to them 😍

Come take a stroll across the gravel and pay them a visit today!

What a great turnout, we absolutely love how our community shows up for small businesses ❤️ Adin and his family gave quick tours of the space and served up some delicious (& creative) treats! 🎹
