NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
The City of Washington Clerks office has issued Fox Pest Control a 30-day temporary door-to-door solicitation permit, which is valid through August 13, 2026.
Under the City of Washington's current Temporary and Non-Permanent Peddlers ordinance, permitted solicitors may conduct door-to-door business only between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
If you observe a solicitor operating outside of the permitted hours or believe there is a violation of the City's ordinance, please report it to Central Dispatch at 812-254-4410. Please provide the location, time, and, if possible, a description of the individual or company involved.

Homicide Suspect Arrested Following TIP

Daviess County – On May 21, 2026, officers with the Indiana State Police, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, and the Washington City Police Department were contacted about a possible murder suspect traveling on I-69. Senior Trooper Kaitlyn Greene located the vehicle driven by Brandon D. Jones. Officers stopped the vehicle on I-69 near Washington. Jones was arrested by Master Trooper Jarrod Lents without incident. Jones was transported to the Daviess County Jail where he will be held for extradition back to Chicago. Traffic on I-69 was stopped for a brief period of time to conduct the arrest.

*Murder

Officials are asking for the public’s help after three separate fires occurred within a short period of time on the west side of Washington, Indiana, on Monday evening.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fires and are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or has information related to the incidents to contact the Indiana Arson Hotline at 1-800-382-4628. Callers may remain anonymous, and a reward of up to $5,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Help keep communities safe by reporting suspicious activity and sharing information that may assist investigators.
