As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day and remember those who gave everything for our freedom.
We thank our fallen heroes and their families for their sacrifice. 🇺🇸

Today, the Washingtonville Police Department proudly participated in a mock DWI motor vehicle accident presentation hosted by Washingtonville High School ahead of prom and graduation season. This powerful demonstration was made possible through the combined efforts of the Washingtonville Fire Department, Salisbury Mills Fire Department, South Blooming Grove Fire Department, Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Ferguson Funeral Home and Woodcock Autobody.
The realistic scenario served as a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences that can result from drinking and driving. Every year, thousands of lives are lost in preventable crashes involving impaired drivers, including many teenagers and young adults. According to national statistics, motor vehicle crashes remain one of the leading causes of death for high school-aged students.
Our goal is simple: make smart choices, never drink and drive, and always have a safe ride home. Whether it’s calling a parent, friend, rideshare, or designated driver, one decision can save a life.
Thank you to everyone who helped put together this important event and to the students who took the message seriously. Your choices matter.
