A number of track records were broken last year. We have finally updated the board which means that some old records and plaques had to come down. We would love to give any of these former JMS track stars a reminder of their athletic prowess. If you know any of these former students please contact Mr.Cooke at [email protected] so we can get a plaque to them. First come first served on the plaques with multiple names.

The February Attendance Challenge Results Are In!

JMS is thrilled to announce that our students met their 80% attendance goal for February! To celebrate this achievement, an hour-long lunch is coming soon. Stay tuned—the winning classes will be announced tomorrow!

Individual Prize Winner
The grand prize for this month’s challenge was a pair of AirPods. To qualify for the raffle, students needed to maintain at least 90% attendance—and we are proud to say that over 250 students met that mark!

We pre-recorded the "spinning wheel" raffle with our ASB team so we could surprise the winner in person. Catch the priceless reaction in the video below! A huge congratulations to Wyatt Carlin for winning this month’s AirPods.

A Special Thanks to Our Boosters
Today, Wyatt officially received his prize from our Parent Booster President, Kristin Pfieffer. We are incredibly grateful to the Parent Boosters for donating these prizes. In fact, they are so committed to supporting student attendance that they will provide AirPods to raffle every month for the remainder of the school year! Thank you, Boosters, for everything you do for JMS.

On Tuesday, Jemtegaard Middle School hosted six schools for our Knowledge Bowl Invitational—the largest meet of the season!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Mr. Rainey and Mr. Ross for their leadership in facilitating the event and coaching our six competing teams. We also want to share our deepest gratitude for the many staff members, parents, and community members who volunteered as readers and timers.

An event of this scale truly takes a village, and as the photos show, the night was a resounding success!

At Jemtegaard Middle School, every staff member has the opportunity to inspire our students, whether through major milestones or small daily interactions. A wonderful recent example of this was when our custodian, Jason Kero, spoke to Teacher Dani's 6th-grade class about his life as an artist. Jason shared several of his works—including a piece featured in a major magazine—while reflecting on his creative journey and offering valuable advice to our budding artists. We are incredibly grateful to Jason not only for the diligence and care he brings to his role as a custodian every day, but also for taking the time to share his passion and talent with our school community.

We are grateful to all the community members who find time in their busy schedules to support our students during Club Unite activities on Thursday afternoons. A great example of this is Lynda Bosner and David Catherina from the Camas-Washougal Pickleball League, who have been teaching our students how to play pickleball. Thank you, Lynda and David. Our students are having a blast.

Thanks to Club Unite, we are excited to announce that we launched a new club, "Cheer & Pep" at our school! This club is all about building school spirit that goes beyond academics.

Cheer & Pep Club members will help lead the student section at upcoming select boys’ basketball home games, creating energy, encouragement, and momentum for our team. The club will also support school assemblies by promoting unity and pride in our school community. This helps students feel connected, confident, and proud of their school, and motivates them to put more into the classroom. If you are interested in having your child join the Cheer & Pep Club, we would love to have them!

Thursdays after school from 3:00 to 4:15 PM

We look forward to growing school spirit together and cheering on our school community!

There was a new sheriff in town last Wednesday when Nate Newbigging and Mr. Cooke swapped roles for the day. Nate was the winner of the Husky Bucks raffle to be Principal for the Day. While ‘Mr. Newbigging’ was an outstanding Principal, we are not sure we could say the same for the new student ‘David.’ Teachers were happy to have Nate back in their classrooms the next day.

Club Unite is on Thursdays and there are so many opportunities for your student to explore, learn new skills, have fun and make new friends. The Unite Washougal Team and the WHS Ambassador Program students have created an engaging program which our students have a blast at. If your student has not come to Club Unite yet, please invite them to come join the fun.

WRESTLING MEET AT JMS, NOVEMBER 18, 2025

Once a year, JMS hosts a wrestling meet, and the home team, Washougal MS Panthers, puts on a show for the local crowd. A packed crowd watched the Panthers take on Hockinson and La Center. Thank you to coaches Lees, Haase, Smetana, and Leonard for your dedication to coaching the next generation of Washougal wrestlers.
