Alaska Solstice Search Dogs is a volunteer organization in Alaska. Our mission is to train and deploy highly qualified and certified search dog teams to assist law enforcement and other government agencies in the search and recovery of missing persons. If this is an emergency call 9-1-1 so the Alaska State Troopers or other agencies may activate our group.

Even though Alaska is a big place, if you're out on the water, chances are you may be sharing it with a variety of other boats, including powerboats, fishing vessels (recreational or commercial), cruise ships, water taxis, jet skis, divers, sailboats, cruise ships, float planes, paddlecraft, and more!

Different boats.
Different speeds.
Different abilities to maneuver.
Same waterway.

Know who's around you. Know the rules. Give other boaters room.

DOG DAYS – Marcy Larson with Juneau's Southeast Alaska Dogs Organized for Ground Search (SEADOGS), holding leash at right, arrives in Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport this morning with Tika, one of twenty dogs and 30 people in town for this weekend's Alaska Training Conference. Dogs from K-9 teams around Alaska will train in Sitka Saturday and Sunday for interior, exterior and water search and rescue. On 09/05/2026 at approximately 1011 hours, AST received a call from the Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad. KVRS stated a 26 YO hiker was past the summit of Deer Mountain and unable to walk due to an injury. KVRS responded via helicopter, and the patient was transported to Peace Health Hospital without incident.
