Lance Cpl. Gregory DeArmond, a native of Wasilla, and other members of the 3rd MAW Band visited multiple schools throughout Alaska to highlight career opportunities within the Marine Corps Music Program.

Wasilla Local!

Sgt. Tyler Duchesneau, an infantry Marine with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, provides sniper support from the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay, during ship boarding training aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 7, 2024.

The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Duchesneau was recruited out of Wasilla in 2019.

Drill Instructors

Drill instructors are held responsible for the welfare, behavior, and military education of the recruits assigned to them on a 24-hour basis throughout the period of initial training, of which the most well known is Basic Training or boot camp.
