Wassaic Fire Rescue "The Blue Crew" would like to give a big thank you to and for including us in the 2026 Drip drop Hydration Giveback Campaign! This donation of DripDrop electrolyte drink will help keep our firefighters and EMS providers hydrated during training. emergency responses, extreme heat, and long incidents. Staying hydrated helps our crews perform at their best and stay safe on the job.

Tonight the Members of the Dutchess County Hazmat Team were on hand to do a live propane flaring drill along with a classroom presentation on Lithium ION Batteries presented to Wassaic, Amenia, Millerton Fire Departments. The officers and members would like to extend our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of the Roosevelt Fire District and to the Family of Life member Barbara Cary. Barbara was a phenomenal person who taught me alot when I was just starting out in EMS I am proud to have been able to call her a friend and almost a mom she knew how to keep me in check. As we are approaching a heatwave over the next few days, The Wassaic Fire House will be open 10am to 6pm as a cooling center, if it is needed. Please let's check on our elderly neighbors to make sure they are OK and most importantly stay hydrated. Also please know these signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Today Chief Tim Shea and Rescue Capt Keely Shea had the opportunity to be a part of the ribbons cutting ceremony of the new fire training building. We were also honor to be there when Commissioner Beale and Executive Sue Serino presented a plaque to honor and Name the training center after Past Chief of Roosevelt and long standing Deputy county coordinator Raymond Nichols and who has been promoted as of July 6th will be a senior county coordinator. Great day it was and what and honor to a great man.

At 16:55 6/8/26 Wassaic Fire along With Amenia Fd under mutual aid, Amenia Medic 1 were dispatched for a priority one motor vehicle accident in the area of 91 S. Amenia Rd. Wassaic 69-1 arived on the scene determine that two car serious accident with two patients, and immediately called for the road to be closed at both ends of Benson Rd. One patient was transported ALS to Vassar Brothers Medical Center by Amenia Medic 1. Unfortunately there was a fatality in which accident reconstruction / investigation was initiated by Dutchess County Sheriffs Office. Road was reopened approximately 21:30 hours. Thank you to the members of Wassaic who were on the scene and to those that were on stand by, thank you also to Amenia Fire, Amenia Medic 1 (Empress EMS), DCSO, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response dispatchers, Dutchess County medical examiners office, and DC highway. The team work and professionalism was top notch. Timothy Shea Chief.
