STORM DAMAGE UPDATE
Well, that came out of nowhere.
We hope everyone is doing okay after yesterday’s storm. Watauga was hit by straight-line winds, with most of the damage reported north of Chapman Road to the northern city limits.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth recorded a wind gust of 55 mph. Based on the damage, winds may have reached 60–70 mph.
The City’s early damage report includes:
- 20–30 damaged trees and other vegetation
- About 10 damaged commercial buildings
- 15–20 damaged homes
Most of the damage to homes was minor. One home had moderate to major damage after a tree fell on it.
Four businesses in the 6700 block of Rufe Snow Drive were damaged. Two had heavy damage, including one building collapse. The Midas and DEKRA buildings cannot be occupied at this time.
One Midas employee suffered arm and leg injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Watauga Fire responded to 26 storm-related calls with help from North Richland Hills, Haltom City, and Richland Hills. Of those calls, 21 involved downed power lines. Watauga Police also responded to storm-related calls.
As of this morning, Oncor reported that about 120 customers were still without power. Crews are working in the area, and Oncor expects power to be restored by the end of today.
These numbers may change as the City receives more information.
A big thank-you to our Public Works, Parks, Police, and Fire teams for their quick response. They cleared roads, removed trees and other hazards, responded to damaged City facilities, managed traffic and road closures, answered emergency calls, and provided emergency care throughout the storm.

INFORMACIÓN SOBRE LOS DAÑOS CAUSADOS POR LA TORMENTA DE AYER
Esperamos que todos se encuentren bien después de la tormenta de ayer. Watauga fue azotada por vientos en línea recta. La mayoría de los daños se reportaron al norte de Chapman Road, hasta el límite norte de la ciudad.
El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional en Fort Worth registró vientos de hasta 55 mph. Según los daños observados, es posible que los vientos hayan alcanzado entre 60 y 70 mph.
El reporte preliminar de daños de la Ciudad incluye:
