Velma Fire Department would like to invite you and your family to come join us tomorrow May 6th from 11 until .. for our annual fish fry. Fish plate with spaghetti, fries, hush puppies, slaw, and drink for $15.We will also be having a political rally for county elections beginning @12 as well as bouncy houses for the children.

Velma Fire is also looking for new members to join our family of volunteers to continue to help our community. All are welcome to join weather you are looking to become a firefighter or just simply lend a hand at meetings and events.

Residents need to take action now by:

Charging cell phones
Identifying safe spot
Keep shoes nearby
Having multiple ways to receive life-saving weather alerts
Preparing for power outages
Collecting and storing important documents
Have batteries and flashlights on hand
Have a plan for how you will power medical devices in case of an outage
Determine an alternate way to keep medications cold
Stock up on non-perishable food
Have cash on hand
