15 Years Ago Today - Training showers and thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall traveled along the Route 2 corridor from Middlesex/Waterbury through Lunenburg. Numerous flash flooding occurred along Route 2 communities from East Montpelier to Lunenburg with major river flooding along the Winooski and Passumpsic rivers. The Winooski River flooding at Montpelier was the first flood since the Ice Jam flooding of March 1992. Tropical Storm IRENE would impact some of these same areas just three months later (8/28/2011).

However, Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, Dolly, Edouard, Fay, Gonzalo, Hanna, Isaias, Josephine, Kyle, Leah, Marco, Nana, Omar, Paulette, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Vicky, and Wilfred, prepare for the possibility that your friends, and some strangers, one or more times this year will say, “Hey! How do Vermonters end a week in May that starts with 90-degree temperatures? With a Frost Advisory, of course!

Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings are in effect for tonight into early Friday for much of the area outside of the Champlain Valley. Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s to mid 30s, allowing frost to develop overnight. Sensitive outdoor plants could be damaged or killed if not protected from the cold.
