It was with honor and privilege that on August 10th we retire SSgt Lavin after an amazing 10 years with our unit.
His leadership, wisdom and strength has been a pillar at Brass City for many years. He has set an example for all young marines to follow and given lessons that will carry through to many future Young Marines in our program.
We wish him the best of luck as he starts his college journey at Quinnipiac.

We are beyond grateful for the continued support of our VFW partners at Wheeler-Young VFW Post 201. They presented our unit with a check that will cover all expenses for our winter 2026 encampment! We had quite a week! We participated in 3 events for our great city of Waterbury on Saturday, the Korean War dedication with the Waterbury Veterans Memorial council, the Sam Beamon foundation ceremony where YM LCpl Moyher received the distinguished Young Marine of the year award and Salute to service supporting veterans and veteran programs. We also sent off a 3 Young Marines to their first JLS today and wish them luck on a great week! Lastly tonight was the last drill SSgt Lavin will charge. He will officially be retired on August 10th and our unit is thankful for all his leadership and guidance with him at the helm this past year! 🇺🇲

Build your own trail mix.
Using a compass to locate the smores supplies.
Fire starting lesson.
Using and eating MREs.
Chicken nuggets over the fire.
