We hope everyone is staying safe and warm during these extreme cold temperatures. January was an extremely busy month for us. Despite the severe weather, our fire crews have responded to numerous EMS calls, vehicle accidents, and eight working fires. In one of these incidents, a victim was successfully pulled from a home, giving them the best possible chance for a positive outcome.

We are incredibly proud of our crews who continue to serve our community tirelessly, regardless of the conditions. Please take a moment to check your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors!

As always, we are proud to serve our residents.

Last night, our Fire Department responded to two working fires along with numerous other calls for service. We want to remind everyone to make sure you have working smoke alarms and a fire escape plan in place. Fires today burn hotter and faster, often leaving as little as two minutes to escape.
With the extreme cold upon us, please take a moment to check in on family, friends, and neighbors — especially those who may need extra help.

We are proud to serve our communities!

The Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to 17,227 calls for service in 2025, the highest call volume in our department’s history. Even more impressively, we are already on pace to exceed that number in 2026!

We proudly serve our communities from nine fire stations, operating seven engines, two ladder trucks, one heavy rescue, and five ALS rescue units. As call volume continues to rise, our commitment never changes—we are always here to answer the call.

The Waterford Regional Fire Department announces the retirement of Deputy Chief Carl Wallace,

Deputy Chief Wallace began his career with WRFD in October 1998 and, over the past twenty-seven years, has served in a wide range of vital roles, including Engineer, Apparatus Mechanic, Lieutenant Fire Inspector, Deputy Fire Marshal, Fire Marshal, and, most recently, Deputy Fire Chief. Few have had such a broad and meaningful impact on this department. His influence can be seen in our operations, our apparatus and maintenance program, our fire prevention efforts, and in the effectiveness of our daily administration.

Deputy Chief Wallace has long been the person everyone relied on. If something needed attention, he made sure it was addressed. If something needed to be fixed, he found a way to fix it. He put in long hours, accepted difficult responsibilities, and consistently placed the needs of the department and the communities we serve above his own. His steady leadership, practical problem-solving, and unwavering commitment have helped shape the WRFD into what it is today.

We are deeply grateful for his service, his dedication, and the example he has set for all of us. His retirement is well-earned and marks a significant moment in the history of the Waterford Regional Fire Department.

Please join us in congratulating Deputy Chief Carl Wallace on his retirement and in thanking him for twenty-seven years of outstanding service.

🎃 Halloween Safety Tips 👻

As we gear up for a fun and spooky Halloween, let’s take a moment to keep safety top of mind—especially for our little trick-or-treaters!

🕯️ Ditch the Candles
Use battery-operated flashlights or glow sticks instead of candles in jack-o’-lanterns to reduce fire risk.

👗 Costume Caution
Choose costumes that avoid long, trailing fabric, which can be a tripping hazard or catch fire.

🔥 Stay Clear of Flames
Remind kids to steer clear of open flames, such as candles or fire pits, while out and about.

🏠 Safe & Spooky Porches
If your porch is extra spooky this year, make sure there’s plenty of space for kids to safely walk up and down without tripping or crowding.

Let’s make this Halloween fun, festive, and fire-safe for everyone!
