HYOH, everyone! That's part of what our students learned today at our assembly with Mr. Ryan Benz. It's an acronym for "Hike Your Own Hike," which is the mantra of Appalachian Trail trekkers, which includes Mr. Benz, who hiked the 2,000+ mile trail in its entirety.💪

Today he talked to our students about slowing down; tuning out the noise; and finding confidence, resilience and the focus to make the best choices in their lives.

We thank him for sharing this important message with our students and for donating a copy of his book, Wander, to our library. Ask your child what they learned today... we encourage them to always follow their own paths and strive to be the best versions of themselves! 🤩

St. Patrick's Day shenanigans reigned today... from green themed food in the teachers' lounge (thank you to Mrs. Johnson for organizing and to everyone who brought something delicious to eat), to getting jiggy in the hallway, to green garb, to birthdays and baby news... we had a fun day here at WES, celebrating the wearin' o' the green!🍀 Erin go bragh, everyone!💚🇮🇪🧡

Read Across America was started in 1997 by our National Education Association in an effort to motivate children to read... and that's exactly what we did this week with our themed days... read through the years, keep your head in the reading game, stretch your imagination by reading, read with your "team," and relax and read. As Dr. Seuss famously said, "The more that you read, the more things you will know," and our students are well on their way to, "The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!" It was a spectacular week, Wildcats. Great Job! 😍🤩

Our Family Reading Night event last night was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who came out to join in the fun and celebrate the importance of READING! From reading to bunnies and Wally, to Dr. Seuss crafts, to a reading Glow Room, to our HSA Book Fair, and more... everyone had an amazing time and we thank our volunteers and Mrs. Michelini, especially, for running and organizing our Read Across America family night! 🤩📚💜
