Pretty sweet gift for National Library Week (April 19-25)!

Entries are open through April 8 in the Book Look contest from Syndicate X Library, the brand behind popular YouTube series “Books That Changed My Life."

Finalists will be selected by a judging panel and announced April 15. The winners will be chosen by fan voting. Prizes will be split 50-50 between the winner and their chosen library.

• 1st place: $5,000
• 2nd place: $1500
• 3rd place: $1,000

Winning t-shirt designs will also be sold as official merchandise at BooksThatChangedMyLife.org and promoted to the Syndicate X Library community.

The Library Director, under the supervision of the Fontana Public Library Board of Trustees, is
responsible for the operation of the library and the development and implementation of its
service programs. This includes assisting the board with strategic planning and policy
development, managing all library resources, including human resources, organizing the
acquisitions, access, storage and control of collections, designing and implementing services and programs for users of all ages and overseeing the maintenance and safety of the library interior portions of the building. The Library Director hires and supervises all assistants, substitutes, and volunteers who work in the library.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee all aspects of library operations, including budgeting, personnel management,
facilities, programming, and technology.
• Recruit, select, hire, supervise, evaluate, and terminate, if necessary, library staff in
conformity with library policy and state and federal laws.
• Administer and present the annual budget; manage financial resources and pursue
alternative funding through grants, donations, and partnerships.
• Serve as the primary liaison to the Library Board, elected officials, and community
stakeholders.
• Represent the Library at local, regional, and statewide events; advocate for library
services and funding.
• Ensure compliance with Wisconsin public library statutes and Department of Public
Instruction reporting requirements.
• Promote a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of Grade III certification or the ability to obtain certification as required by
Wisconsin Statute 43.15 (4) (c) (6).
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, strategic planning, personnel management, and
community engagement.
• Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Ability to supervise staff and delegate responsibility in an effective manner.

The WPLC Marketing Committee is delighted to be moving forward with Wisconsin's Digital Library Book Club.

Driven by community feedback in our previous survey, the Committee has chosen "Still True" by Maggie Ginsberg, available as an ebook and digital audiobook and winner of the WLA 2023 Literary Award for Fiction, as the title for the program that will run in early 2026.

But what to call it?? The Committee is seeking your feedback on a name evokes Wisconsin and reading and possibly the winter months in which the program will run.

Please take a moment to consider the options in this form and let us know your three favorite names. And if you have suggestions, please share those as well.
