At last night’s Special Village Board meeting, the Board discussed a plan to address Village roads that are currently rated 1 or 2 on the PASER road rating scale. These include Jefferson Street, Main Street, along with several other roads throughout the Village, as shown on the attached map. Some of these projects would also include necessary water and sewer upgrades.

Earlier this year, the Board and Public Works Committee had discussed whether to pursue an advisory referendum to gather resident feedback on a potential five-year plan to address the Village’s worst roads. Last night, the Board reviewed projected costs for each proposed project, along with the estimated impact on the tax levy. After that discussion, the Village Board decided to move forward with developing a five-year plan to improve Village roadways. There will not be an advisory referendum on this topic.

Village staff will now prepare a recommended schedule identifying which roads should be completed in each year of the five-year plan. The proposed plan will then be reviewed by the Public Works Committee before receiving final approval from the Village Board.

Improving our roads is an important long-term investment in our community. Please stay tuned for more updates as this plan moves forward.

Wisconsin law allows voters to choose which political party’s primary they wish to vote in without having to register to vote with a party affiliation or designation. However, a voter may only vote within one party’s primary on the August ballot.

To put simply, voters should pick a party preference on August 11 and stick with that party down their ballot when choosing their candidate of choice.

If voters select a party preference but vote in multiple primaries, only the chosen party’s votes will count. This is called crossover voting. Votes cast for any other party will not be counted.

If a voter does not choose a party, and votes in more than one party’s primary, no votes are counted for any partisan contest.

The Partisan Primary is coming up on August 11! You can only vote within one party's primary on the ballot.

🖋️ Have questions about crossover voting? Check out this FAQ on our website: https://elections.wi.gov/faq/what-partisan-primary-and-how-do-i-avoid-crossover-voting
