Black Hawk County Veterans Affairs Assist Veterans and their Dependent's needs to which they are entitled.

The Commission endeavors to assist honorably discharged Veterans/Dependents by respectfully and judiciously promoting communication, cooperation and education between the Veteran, legislators, and the public and private sector to insure that the needs of the Veteran/Dependents are met. Black Hawk County has a five member Commission appointed by the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors. An Execut

ive Director or Administrator is appointed by the
Commission to be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. A staff of three assists the Director or Administrator in carrying out the daily functions involved in the provision of services to Veterans and dependents.

Another Thursday Veteran Cookout is in the books!
Today’s rain was an uninvited guest, but we are flexible! We moved inside and our wonderful sponsors served a delicious lunch. We are grateful so many people braved the weather to attend.

⚠️Office closure notice

Due to an unexpected plumbing issue the Blackhawk County VA we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Our staff is working remotely and remains available to assist Veterans in their families by phone and email throughout the day. We anticipate reopening and resuming normal business hours 8 AM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue we appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve Veterans and their families.

Calling all Veterans AND local business owners!

Have you signed up for the Honor Rewards program? It is a new program offered by our County Recorder's office that connects local veterans with participating businesses offering exclusive discounts as a thank-you for their service.

Veterans can enroll at no cost to receive an Honor Rewards ID card, and local businesses are encouraged to join the program and show their support.
