Black Hawk County offices are closed today in observance of the Juneteenth Holiday. Offices will reopen on Monday, June 22 at 8 a.m.

The 31st Annual Juneteenth Celebration is this weekend in Waterloo with activities scheduled June 18-June 21. Come see us in Sullivan Park on Saturday from 1-5 p.m.

Today the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing the Juneteenth Holiday and encouraging residents to participate in the local Juneteenth festivities.

LaTanya Graves, representing the Juneteenth Planning Committee, attended the proclamation reading and shared details about this year’s events, which begin June 19 and continue throughout the weekend.

Last week, representatives from the Jesse Cosby Center , Eastside Ministerial Alliance Inc. Operation Threshold and Peoples Community Health Clinic joined our Black Hawk County General Assistance Coordinator for the annual partner meeting.

By working together, this group of organizations strengthens their ability to serve residents efficiently, connect people with the resources they need, and make the most of community partnerships and available funding. From emergency assistance with housing and utilities to referrals for food, prescriptions, and other essential needs, collaboration helps ensure support reaches those who need it most.

With the recent heavy rains, drivers may come across roadways that are under water. Even a few inches of flood water can sweep a car away. Choose safety. Turn around and find another route.

As of 6/12/26 12 p.m. the following county roads are under water:
• Gresham Road from Elk Run Road to Raymond Road.
• E. Bennington Rd. from Crane Creek Road to Raymond Road.
• Marquis Road from Elk Run Road to Crane Creek Road.
