Attention Black Hawk County high schools. The Carrie Chapman Catt Award program is open for 2026-2027.

September is here, school is in full swing, and it’s time to get Iowa’s next generation of voters registered!

The 2026-2027 Carrie Chapman Catt Award program is officially underway. We’re encouraging Iowa high schools to get their eligible seniors registered to vote and take part in this statewide program. Last year, more than 5,000 students registered through Catt!

It’s Food Truck Festival Day! 🎉
Stop by and try all the delicious options! Before you leave, cast your vote!

Located at the Waterloo River Loop Plaza, the event runs until 6 p.m., but you need to cast your vote by 5:15 p.m. Winners are announced at 5:30 p.m.

Fun Fact: We are pretty great at managing elections! So while this is a fun event, we can answer your questions about the upcoming General Election!

Poll worker training has started, and we could use your help! It takes 300+ PEOs to administer the General Election in November. These dedicated individuals work in bipartisan teams across Black Hawk County, to ensure the security and accuracy of our election process.

The General Election is coming up quick. Are you registered to vote? Here are the updated voter registration numbers in Black Hawk County.

The total number of registered voters is 81,316.
Below is a breakdown of voters by party affiliation:
• Democratic: 28,831 registered voters
• No Party: 28,300 registered voters
• Republican: 23,423 registered voters
• Other: 762 registered voters

Black Hawk County Elections Office is NOW ACCEPTING Absentee Ballot Request Forms for the General Election on November 3! If you'd like a ballot mailed to your house, you can print off and fill out the form here: https://blackhawkcountyelections.iowa.gov/

Ballots will be mailed out starting on October 14.
