Watertown Public Schools Announces New Principal for John Trumbull Primary School
Watertown Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristine DeLeo as the new Principal of John Trumbull Primary School.
Ms. DeLeo is an accomplished educational leader with 25 years of public-school experience. Most recently, Kris served as Principal of Highcrest Elementary School in Wethersfield, where she led significant growth in literacy and mathematics. Previously, as Principal of Ellen P. Hubbell Elementary School, she redesigned the specialized autism program to better meet students’ individual needs. During her leadership, Hubbell received the 2024 School of Distinction for High Growth in Literacy, the 2022 CAS Elementary School of the Year Award, and the 2022 CAS Culture and Climate Award.
Guided by the belief that “All Means All,” Kris is committed to ensuring every student is known, valued, challenged, and supported. Her leadership emphasizes equity, belonging, high expectations, and strong partnerships with students, families, and staff.
Ms. DeLeo holds a Sixth-Year Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport, a master’s degree in elementary education with a reading concentration from the University of Saint Joseph, and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Connecticut.
A longtime Watertown resident whose three children attended Watertown Public Schools, Kris is pleased to serve the community as Principal of John Trumbull Primary School. She looks forward to working with students, families, and staff to build a culture of belonging, academic growth, and lifelong learning, with a particular focus on helping every student become a confident and successful reader.
