Flower Memorial Library will "benefit those that delight in knowledge" by providing a welcoming atmosphere, exceptional service from a committed staff and by being responsive to community needs. The Library will maintain a well-balanced collection of books, p

eriodicals, audio-visual materials, technology and other resources, and present programs on a variety of subjects in appropriate formats for children, teens and adults. Flower Memorial Library serves Watertown and surrounding communities as a center for reading, culture and research. The Library is a vibrant institution, committed to promoting a well-rounded and informed citizenry. As a premier historical and community asset, the Library offers educational and recreational opportunities for all ages.

Time is running out! There’s just ONE WEEK LEFT to submit your reading hours for our Summer Reading Program! 🦖📚

All reading hours must be submitted by 7:55pm on Monday, August 31. No late entries will be accepted, so make sure you get those final hours turned in on time!

Don't forget to Drop Your Drawers at Flower Memorial Library! We will be accepting underwear donations through the end of the month!

Drop off packages of new underwear for children (sizes 4-16) or packages of diapers from August 1-31 at the Circulation Desk on the Main Floor. Donations will help replenish Watertown elementary schools’ supplies of emergency underpants and provide diapers for the Healthy Families program of the North Country Prenatal/Perinatal Council.

The need is great. Schools hand out underwear to children who need clean underwear due to accidents at school or issues at home. Because it may take a while for a parent to leave work, drive home to grab a fresh pair of underwear, and head to the school, children miss valuable learning time in the classroom.

This is the sixth year the Library will participate in the Drop Your Drawers Campaign. As such, the Library’s goal is to receive 500 pairs of underwear or diaper packages. Underwear will be distributed evenly to elementary schools in the city of Watertown.

Underwear may be dropped off at the Circulation Desk of Flower Memorial Library. While you’re here, by all means, stay awhile and enjoy the library’s many services! September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! đź“š

It is the perfect time to discover everything your library has to offer! A library card gives you access to books, eBooks, audiobooks, movies, online resources, and so much more all for free. Whether you're getting your very first card or haven't used yours in a while, stop by the library this month to sign up or renew your card to unlock a world of possibilities. Your next adventure starts with a library card!

Coming up in September we have:
- our fun and playful Thursday story times returning for ages 0-2
- an inspirational film honoring the lives affected by 9/11, featuring firsthand accounts from individuals who were directly involved in the events for ages 13+
- a sparkly evening of making our own rhinestone book covers for ages 18+
- a calm morning of canvas painting for ages 6-12
- a whimsical evening of decorating our own hobbit door ornaments in honor of National Hobbit Day for ages 12+
- a volunteer opportunity helping animals at the SPCA for ages 8-17
- & so much more!
