As a Cowger, I have a lot of family in Webster County, and I know the entire community is grieving right now. I've already been on the phone with several of our lawmakers. As a private citizen, I will be urging them to commission a statute in Webster Springs to commemorate the life of this brave and courageous daughter of West Virginia.

I have spoken with my board, and this will be one of the top priorities of The Family Policy Council of WV during the upcoming legislative session. Heroes like Sarah exemplify what it means to be a West Virginian—selfless sacrifice for the safety and well-being of our people.

Sarah was a devoted Christian, and we take comfort in knowing she is in the arms of our Savior now.

One of the verses Sarah once shared was Matthew 28:6: “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.” With her family’s approval, we will submit a recommendation that this verse (or her favorite verse) should accompany her memorial.

May Christ be with her and her family always. Let us keep them all in our continual prayers.

I want to share something that I learned earlier this week. It showcases the glorious work that the Holy Spirit is doing through Miriam's life as a child of God.

I took a break from a family vacation to speak to about 125 teens at a Christian event in Watertown a couple of weeks ago. This was a week-long gathering and I happened to be the speaker for a brief time on Wednesday evening.

I brought up a few points regarding how to live as a Christian in today's society: don't be afraid to stand up for the truth and to let their lights shine - from a civil and spiritual perspective.

I ended that discussion with pictures that we had never shown to anyone other than the closest family members and discussed how some of us will run marathons and others will have sprints on this earth. Miriam had a sprint to the finish, but ran it without complaint, with her head held high, and as a bold witness for Christ.

The youth were asked at the beginning of the week to answer a multiple choice question:

1. Are you already in a strong relationship with Jesus?
2. Are you ready to improve your relationship with Jesus?
3. Are you curious or have more questions about having a relationship with Jesus?
4. Do you have no interest at all in Christianity?

One of the teen girls who selected #4 came up to staff after I spoke and decided that she wanted to move from a "no interest in Jesus" to "I want to have a relationship with Jesus". She said that it was because of the way Miriam lived her life for Christ and let her light shine among friends, co-workers, family and hospital staff!

God truly is amazing! Have a blessed Friday!

(And here is a picture that has not been shared before. (And here is a picture that has not been shared before. She didn't want people to see her sick or in the hospital. She wanted to be treated like any other teen.)

A few years ago, I hammered Thrivent for allowing donations to Planned Parenthood organizations in Minnesota. Today, Thrivent is all in on "Pride Month".

This is no longer an organization that should be supported by Biblical Christians who think it is still a Christian organization. It is not.

Thrivent ushered in June with a call to “Celebrate Pride Month.” How are we taught to respond to sin? Are we to partner with it and celebrate it? Or do we ex...

I wasn't planning on talking about this, but just had a really disgusting conversation with the new Summit Credit Union in West Bend.

I love local banks/credit unions and have been using them for years. We had multiple business loans with Commerce Bank. I had another friend who'd used Summit for a long time, so I decided to give them a try last week with a large deposit I needed to take out of a business savings account.

Needless to say, one of the tellers needed help so she called someone over. I looked up and there they were - a plethora of pronouns under his name. This was a complete turnoff as a customer. I do not know why any business wants to intentionally alienate their customers.

I thought I'd at least let the HQ know this morning. I talked to a supervisor in Cottage Grove who understood completely and said he would absolutely make sure that my comments make it to the top. I felt good that we had a good, polite conversation about the matter.

I then proceeded to follow up with the branch supervisor, Brian, in West Bend. He was cold to me right off the bat and sad: "I'm sorry you feel that way. It's up to our employee's if they put them on or not. I was not at all happy after getting off the phone with him. No: I'll discuss it with our leaders, no:, I don't want to lose you as a customer, just a too bad, so sad attitude.

I can guaranty that I will be pulling my money out and keeping it at Bank Five Nine in the future where their service and lack of any political leaning has been impeccable.

(As a side note, funny thing was, after hanging up with the branch manager, I got to thinking, maybe he was the guy with the pronouns tag :) )
